A man asked Reddit in August 2022 if he was right to kick out his daughter after finding out the truth about her birth. User RepresentativePie815, started:
“I(39M) had a daughter with my wife (42F)when I turned 20. My now 19 year old daughter has grown up to be a bit of an attention seeker, and has often spread lies about others to try and stir drama with herself at the center, playing the victim. Now, I honestly don’t try anymore after I told her multiple times to stop, and just tell her that she’s digging her own grave.”
OP explained that days before his post, his daughter asked him for $200 for a mall trip with friends, but he refused because he already gave her money for the month. When the man continued to decline, she got angry and yelled that her mother shouldn’t have married a rich man who couldn’t give her money.
“I immediately retorted telling her that I was her father and that I wasn’t some ATM she could just use anytime,” the man disclosed. “We started yelling until she blurted out that I was nothing more than an ATM to her because I wasn’t even her biological father. I was really appalled and asked her where she got that idea from?”

OP received more shocking news. His wife had asked their daughter not to tell him because they needed his money. He confronted his wife, and she confirmed it. He then kicked her and their daughter out despite his wife insisting that he ought to continue supporting them. Meanwhile, he gave his daughter $200 as she had no job or savings, and he knew none of it was her fault.
He also planned to press legal charges against his uncooperative wife. Meanwhile, he ran a DNA test which confirmed the 19-year-old was not his. The man then faced another predicament.

“However now my in laws are telling me to take my soon-to-be ex back since she was young and made mistakes,” he revealed. “My own family is telling me to take my (step?)daughter back since she was raised like my own, but she kept a secret like this from me and tried to use me like her mother, so I said no. They are all blowing me up right now trying to get me to change my mind, so AITA?”
OP added a few more details. He disclosed that he made the post weeks after the incident. He also revealed that his daughter came home to ask for money because she already spent the $200 he gave her.
Meanwhile, some users thought that the man was wrong to have kicked out his wife and daughter as he also contributed to raising his daughter.
“NTA for the cheating wife, ESH for the daughter. Bio or not, you raised her to be the way she is. Not loving her anymore at 19 because of something she has no control over isn’t a great look for you,” the Redditor claimed.
A second Redditor agreed. “ESH, they wrote. “Your wife sucks for using you and cheating on you. Your daughter aucks (sic) for being terrible and spoilt. And you suck for raising her for 18 years and allowing her to become this s***** entitled person. Because if we remove the part about biology, you still seem to have done a cr**** job of being a parent here.”
