Mark Zuckerberg is prepared to call off his much-anticipated confrontation with Elon Musk, who is also the CEO of another internet company.
On Sunday, Mark Zuckerberg said on Threads and later on his Instagram Story that he is ready to “move on” from discussions around the pair’s scheduled face-off in Italy. He also criticized Elon Musk, the leader of SpaceX, for not being serious about stepping in the ring.
“I believe that everyone can agree that Elon isn’t serious, and it’s time for us to move on. I proposed going on a proper date. “Dana White offered to make this a legitimate competition for charity,” Zuckerberg wrote, referring to the role that Dana White played in turning the fight into a charity event. White is the head of the UFC.
The chief executive officer of Meta asserts that Elon Musk is not only not serious about the fight, but he also refuses to set a date and is now apparently in need of surgery before taking on Mark Zuckerberg.
“Elon won’t commit to a specific date, then he claimed he needed surgery, and now he wants to do a practice round in my backyard instead.” He stated, “Elon is aware of how to get in touch with me in the event that he ever becomes serious about setting a real date and official event.” “Otherwise, it’s time to move on.”
For the time being, Zuckerberg, who is now 39 years old, has stated that he is “going to focus on competing with people who take the sport seriously.”

The announcement made by Zuckerberg comes less than two months after Musk, who is 52 years old, issued an offer to Zuckerberg for a cage battle, initially suggesting that it take place at the Vegas Octagon. Since then, Musk has disclosed that the battle will take place in Rome, and on Friday, he disclosed that a venue for the match had been booked.
In a series of tweets that Musk published, the owner of X (formerly known as Twitter), said he has spoken to both Italy’s prime minister and its cultural minister about facing off against Zuckerberg at a “epic” venue in Rome. Musk was referring to a proposed face-off between the two men in Rome.
“They have agreed on an epic location,” Musk wrote in his post. “Everything within the frame of the camera will be ancient Rome, so there will be nothing modern at all.”
However, Rome and its famous Colosseum have been ruled out as possible locations for the fight. The Colosseum was originally the site of epic gladiator fights in ancient times, and it was previously speculated that the fight might take place there.
Musk has stated that all of the money made from the fight will be donated to facilities in Italy that care for children and veterans. In the same string of tweets, Elon Musk disclosed that he has sustained an injury to his shoulder and will require surgery. He mentioned that the healing process would, however, take a few months, which eliminated the possibility of a battle occurring anytime in the near future.
In response to Musk’s tweets on Saturday, Mark Zuckerberg, who has been training in jiu-jitsu for a significant amount of time prior to Musk’s invitation, stated that there has been no agreement reached over the rumored match.
“I have a lot of passion for this sport, and ever since Elon challenged me, I’ve been ready to compete. You’ll hear it from me if he ever agrees to a real date,” Zuckerberg wrote in his post. “Until then, please take anything he says with a grain of salt and assume it has not been agreed upon.”
Moreover, he said, “I’m not holding my breath for Elon, but when I’m ready, I’ll share details on my upcoming fight.” When I compete, I want to do so in a way that draws attention to the most skilled competitors who are competing at the highest level of the sport. You may accomplish this by collaborating with experienced organizations such as the UFC or ONE in order to successfully execute your plan and produce an outstanding card.
