Her son, Mark, confirmed to TMZ on Friday that her passing occurred on Sunday. Inga Swenson was a Broadway actor who starred in Benson. She had reached the age of 90.

The actress, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska, was nominated for a Tony Award twice for her performances as Lizzie Curry in 110 in the Shade and Irene Adler in Baker Street. However, the part of German chef Gretchen Kraus on Benson, which was a spinoff of Soap and was led by Robert Guillaume and aired on ABC from 1979 until 1986, brought her perhaps her greatest level of fame.

Swenson passed away due to unavoidable circumstances, and her family revealed to TMZ that she had been in deteriorating condition for a number of months prior to her passing.

Before beginning her career as an actor in cinema, television, and on Broadway, she received her education in theater from Northwestern University. She was cast in the part of Benson after completing an extended story arc on the soap opera Soap, and she starred in each and every episode of the comedy.

In 1953, she tied the knot with sound engineer Lowell Harris, and the two of them went on to have two sons: Mark and James. James was just 26 years old when he was killed in a motorbike accident in 1987. Mark said to TMZ that Lowell was there at his wife’s bedside at the time of her passing.
