After airing its ninth and last season almost four years ago, the legal drama Suits has broke a record for most streams ever. According to Nielsen, the drama starring Meghan Markle, which ran on USA Network between the years 2011 and 2019, established a record for the amount of streams it received during the week of June 26 to July 2.
It was during that week that the record for the most watch time for an acquired series was achieved by Suits, which had begun streaming on Netflix on June 17 and had 3.14 billion minutes of total watch time. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the record had previously been held by Manifest, which had 2.49 billion watch minutes from June 14 to June 20, 2021.
Suits not only had the most number of viewers on the list of acquired series for the week in question, but it also had the highest number of viewers overall. The Bear completed out the top three with 1.01 billion minutes of watching time, while The Witcher finished in second place with 1.31 billion minutes.
The ratings provided by Nielsen are solely applicable to television watching in the United States. They do not take into account material seen on mobile devices such as phones or tablets or viewership in other countries.
In the television series Suits, Markle played the role of Rachel Zane, an employee at the legal office where attorney Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) worked. Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), the protagonist of the program, is a high school dropout who did not go to law school and utilizes his photographic memory to argue his way into a position as an associate at a legal firm despite the fact that he did not attend college.
Markle was a main cast member in the show for its first seven seasons, all of which concluded their broadcasts in 2018. Her departure from the series followed the announcement that she was engaged to Prince Harry. After being married in 2018, the pair went on to have two children: Archie, who is now 4 years old, and Lilibet, who is 2 years old.
