Moviegoers were thinking pink this weekend!

According to Variety, Greta Gerwig’s movie about Barbie performed better than anticipated at the box office and outsold Christopher Nolan’s movie about Oppenheimer. According to the projections of the industry newspaper, Barbie launched with $155 million, making it one of the most successful opening weekends of the year.

The final tally for the worldwide box office gross for the film Barbie, which starred Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, was $337 million. The historical drama directed by Nolan and starring Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Cillian Murphy had a decent weekend at the box office. The picture made $80.5 million in its first weekend. The simultaneous release of both movies on the same day caused a frenzy on the internet.

It was officially termed “Barbenheimer,” the concept that fans would see the movies as a double feature, and some fans flocked to the theater wearing clothing that were a mix of pink and black to show their support for both films. The combined success of the two movies resulted in the weekend having the status of the fourth most lucrative in all of cinematic history.

Nevertheless, the film directed by Gerwig emerged victorious and received first place. A screening of the movie took place over the weekend at the Alamo Draft House in New York City, and the filmmaker was even there to make an appearance.

ET chatted to Margot Robbie (Barbie), who discussed her enthusiasm for the film’s release and bringing Gerwig’s vision to life. The film’s release is widely anticipated, and ET spoke to Robbie before the film’s release.

“I cannot contain my excitement. She added that we are at the stage where we can share it with the rest of the world. “There’s always that thing when you make a movie and you love it and you care about it so much and you hope that people are going to like it and even see it,” said the actor. “There’s always that thing.” I really hope people see it and get the opportunity to have an opinion on it, even if they don’t like it. However, I get the impression that a lot of people are going to see this movie, which makes the prospect quite intriguing.

She continued by saying, “It is really Greta’s vision. I mean, the concept for Barbie definitely began its journey sixty-four years ago, but Greta bringing it into the world now in a manner that only Greta Gerwig can is what makes this movie worth creating right now.”

Gerwig discussed the importance of narrating the narrative of the legendary doll and why it was necessary for her to bring her to life in her talk.

“She’s been around for a very long time. “She’s been through a lot of transitions,” the other person said. “It’s so happy and so fun… there’s almost a delectable difficulty to it.” And I believe that this must be a contributing factor. But we just attempted to always be loyal to ourselves, such as asking ourselves if anything is intriguing, hilarious, poignant, thrilling, or beautiful. And if that is the case, then we have no choice but to have faith that the same thing will be true for other individuals.
