A well-known actor from a soap opera has sadly departed suddenly due to complications following spinal cord surgery, according to recent breaking news. The celebrity’s passing was verified by the steakhouse restaurant where his devoted wife worked as a bartender. The icon passed away on his birthday, July 14th.

Before he passed away, a donation page was set up on GoFundMe in an attempt to gather money for the pair after his wife had to take a leave of absence from her work to concentrate on caring for him and attending to his needs since he was going through serious medical challenges. The campaign was launched in an effort to generate money for the couple before his demise.

According to the website gathering money for the actor’s medical expenses, the actor had an unexpected procedure on his spinal cord on July 2 and then entered hospice care two days later. Following the operation on Benedict’s spinal cord, he had paralysis from the neck down and was in desperate need of assistance and care.

Ginger, his wife, was forced to take a leave of absence from her job since Benedict’s constant need for care made it difficult for her to make the trip each day from their home in Arizona to her place of employment. As a result, the GoFundMe was originally established to:

“Raise money to assist the couple in paying their bills, buying food, and any medical expenses that may arise.”

Unfortunately, Benedict lost his battle with cancer not long after the website was first built. The cherished fans of the actor, who passed away well recognized for his role as Phillip Brent, one of the husbands to Susan Lucci’s character on the famous soap opera “All My Children,” for which he got a Daytime Emmy Nomination in 1979, grieve him terribly. His role on the show earned him a nomination for the award in 1979.

After his run on the program, Benedict went on to establish himself as a leading man in a number of other daytime dramas, the most notable of which are “The Young and the Restless,” “Knots Landing,” and “Tribes.” His depiction as Curtis Reed on “Days of Our Lives” earned him the distinction of holding the longest-running character in a soap opera, despite the fact that he has been in a great number of roles throughout the years.

His devastated family, friends, and all those who knew, loved, and appreciated the gifted actor continue to receive condolences, and happy memories of his life and profession continue to be shared on social media platforms.

According to his IMDb website, he has also appeared in “The Dukes of Hazards” and “The Fall Guy.” After the loss of his father, Richard Benedict, who was also an actor and director, Benedict decided to take a break from the acting profession, which is a truth that may be unknown to a great number of people.

In an interview with the Times and Democrat in 1993, he discussed the decision to take a break from his work. During this period, Benedict revealed that he had been active in the administrative side of a contracting firm in addition to playing in bands that performed at nightclubs.

As the sad news continues to make its way across the globe, many admirers have taken to social media to express condolences and cherished memories from his impressive career, which each of them was moved and inspired by.
