After seven years of marriage, Joe Manganiello has submitted the necessary paperwork to begin the divorce process with his wife Sofia Vergara.
On Wednesday, the documents for the divorce were submitted by the Magic Mike star’s attorney, Laura Wasser. The documents, which were acquired by Entertainment Tonight, state that Manganiello cites “irreconcilable differences” as the reason why they have decided to end their marriage.
According to the petition for divorce, Manganiello and Vergara signed a prenuptial agreement before they were married. The agreement states that they would each retain any assets that were collected during the period that they were together.
In the documents, it is also stated that the date of their divorce will be July 2, 2023.
Monday’s statement to Page Six included both the couple’s announcement of their decision to separate and their desire to divorce.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” says the joint statement issued by the couple. “As two people who love and care for one another very much, we would respectfully ask that our privacy be respected at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” the couple said in their statement.
In addition to the joint statement, a source has told the publication, “Sofia and Joe have been growing apart for quite some time now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”

“They have been spending time apart and focusing on themselves, their careers, and their loved ones,” the insider said about the couple. Sofia has been really active in her new beauty company, toty, and is quite pleased about it. She has been putting her all to it. She had a party to commemorate the launch at her home in Los Angeles near the end of June, but Joe was absent from the occasion. She did, however, have a picture of the two of them kissing that was framed and displayed in one of the rooms of her house.
After the breakup of Vergara’s engagement to billionaire Nick Loeb in 2014, Manganiello and Vergara started dating shortly afterwards.
Soon after that, the actor from True Blood obtained Vergara’s phone number from her co-star on Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and then traveled all the way to New Orleans to take her out on a date. After being together for half a year, they decided to take the next step and get engaged. On November 22, 2015, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello were legally wed and began their lives together as husband and wife.
