Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro was born on April 6, 2023 to Robert De Niro and his fiancée Tiffany Chen, who at the time were expecting their first child together.
Gia is Robert De Niro’s seventh child; the actor, who has been married twice, has two children from his first marriage, two children from his second marriage, and two children with a prior girlfriend. Gia is the only child he has with his current partner.
Chen has recently addressed the concerns made about her looks in a recent interview, which was her first of its kind. During her appearance on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, she discussed her pregnancy, the delivery, and the subsequent loss of facial function.
According to De Niro’s partner, the pregnancy was a breeze for them. She also said that when she was pregnant, she often made jokes about how much bigger she was growing.
Chen also said that she was quite active when she was carrying her child, saying, “I was just very in touch with my body.” She also discussed how she felt about the criticisms leveled against her and De Niro after their appearance in the media.
The fact that De Niro gave birth to a child at the age of 79 generated a lot of headlines in the media as well as comments from people online. De Niro came under fire from a number of internet users for fathering a kid in his latter years.
Again, when Chen gave birth and was seen out at events with De Niro, unfavorable comments about their look were made by headline writers and individuals online. One observer said that the pair gave off a “miserable” vibe, while another called Chen a “sad Chinese man.”

Despite this, Chen said that shortly after returning home from the hospital, the features on her face began to collapse in on themselves. “Like my face was melting on itself,” she stated.
Chen’s face began to deteriorate one week after she had given birth to her child. She said, “I’ve lost all facial function,” and I couldn’t believe it. She was checked in once again at the hospital, and this time an MRI was performed. The results of the MRI showed that she suffers from Bell’s Palsy, a neurological condition that may result in significant muscular weakness or paralysis of the face.
Chen’s face was so severely impacted by her illness that she was unable to communicate properly and even had to keep her face in place as she spoke. To make matters worse, the mother of one was unable to smile or kiss her daughter when she was a little child because of the ailment.
Now, Chen’s face has much improved, and she has disclosed that her therapy consists of both acupuncture and steroids. She went on to say that she had never really given much thought to the way that she presented herself. Chen also revealed how Robert De Niro was there for her during this difficult period.
Chen was one of the people De Niro worked with while filming “The Intern.” In the film starring Robert De Niro, Chen played a Tai Chi master who also instructed De Niro.
“I’ve had better students, but he was okay,” the actor’s girlfriend remembers thinking about him when he was in her class.”He was involved in a lot of other aspects of the film as well.”
Chen went on to say that following their first encounter on set, the two subsequently met up again and discovered that they loved one other a little too much, which ultimately led to the beginning of their relationship.
