A Polish woman simply known as Joanna, who is now 26 years old, underwent a successful facial transplant after facing a severe facial tumor condition known as Neurofibromas, which affected her for many years and prevented her from chewing, swallowing, and even talking. Joanna is pictured above before and after her surgery.

The facial transplant operation, which took place in Poland and was just the country’s second ever, lasted for 23 hours and included the grafting of skin from other areas of her body onto her face. Chewing, eating, and talking should all become possible for Joanna after she has finished the medical rehabilitation procedure that she is now going through, according to the doctors who are treating her.

Joanna has expressed her desire to further her education and study Psychology in order to be in a position to assist others.

Neurofibromas are a kind of benign tumor that develop along nerves and are caused by a medical disorder known as neurofibromatosis. It is a genetic disorder, but there is also the possibility that a mutation in a gene might cause it. See other pictures down below.
