During an interview to promote his film “About My Father,” legendary actor Robert De Niro delivered a surprise by correcting the reporter when she referred to his six children and said that on May 8, 2023 – at the age of 79 – he will be a father of seven!
Robert’s birthday is August 17th, and he was born in New York City, New York, in 1943. Early on in life, he discovered a passion for acting, which he cherished even more for the fact that it assisted him in overcoming his introversion. In May of 2023, Robert finally spoke up about some of his private thoughts on motherhood as well as shocking news regarding a new member of the family. Robert is usually secretive about his personal life, but he did share this information with his wife.
During an interview with Brittnee Blair of ET Canada to promote Robert’s most recent film, “About My Father,” Blair steered the conversation to Robert’s emotions towards parenthood. Blair started to say, “I know you have six kids,” but the actress cut her off and pointed out that she had made a mistake.
“Seven, actually,” he said, and then added, “I just had a baby.”
Blair had a hard time concealing her shock at the information and extended her congratulations to her. She followed up by asking him whether he thought he was more of a “cool” sort of parent or if he had experienced any humiliating dad moments. He stated that he and his children have the regular ups and downs in their relationship, just as most other fathers do.
“I don’t consider myself to be a cool parent…. I’m okay… My daughter, who is 11 years old, can be a pain in the neck at times. “I’ll argue with her, but I adore her, and now that I have my youngest, there will be more of that to come in the future,” he observed.
However, Robert did not reveal when the baby was born or with whom he shares the child. What is known for certain, however, is that the actor will continue to care for his baby in the same manner that he has cared for all of his children throughout the course of his career.
“I don’t appreciate being the one who has to set the rules and everything like that. But (occasionally), you simply have no option. And I believe that any parent would agree with me on this point. “It’s always in your best interest to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt, but there are times when you just can’t,” he said.
On the 11th of May, 2023, Gayle King, the anchor of “CBS Mornings,” revealed some more joyful baby news about Robert’s newest bundle of joy. She said that once she personally contacted Robert in an effort to get additional information about the kid, he consented to her request. Then, in what King referred to as a “bona fide exclusive,” he gave Robert’s kid her “national TV debut,” disclosing not only her name but also an exquisite picture of her.
King said that Robert and Mary’s baby was born on April 6, 2023, and that she weighed 6 ounces when she was born. Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro was chosen to be her name in honor of Robert’s mother, the painter Virginia Admiral. Her father is Robert De Niro. In the picture, Gia could be seen wearing a pink and black striped onesie and gazing adoringly into the camera as she had a full head of dark hair.
King revealed to everyone that Robert is the father of the kid along with his fiancée, the accomplished martial artist Tiffany Chen. According to Gayle, the newest member of Robert’s family brings the total number of children he has raised to seven. Robert’s eldest kid, Drena, is now 51 years old, and his youngest child, Gia, is just a few months old.
In addition, Robert is a grandfather. Raphael, who is his eldest biological son, is now married to Claudine DeMatos, who is the mother of his three children. Additionally, Drena had a son by the name of Leandro De Niro-Rodriguez, but on July 2, 2023, she announced on Instagram that he had gone away at the age of 19 years old.
