It is a long-standing custom in many different cultures all over the globe that grooms are not allowed to view their wives dressed in their wedding attire until after the bride has walked down the aisle toward them.

According to the website Wedgewood Weddings, there are certain societies that have the tradition of believing that it is unlucky for the pair to meet one other on the day of the event unless they are already participating in the ceremony itself. This is done out of the belief that it would bring them bad luck.

According to Today’s Bride, the origin of this misconception may be traced back to the practice of arranged marriages. The parents of women who are committed to getting married were concerned that the prospective husband may back out of the union if he met their kid before the wedding. They believed this to be a real possibility.

Because of the standards of today, many people have long since forgotten about this practice, and the only people who continue to observe it are those who are superstitious.

One bride by the name of Rachel Kwon in the United States decided to follow the custom that she was familiar with rather than follow the trend that some people in the United States still follow, which is to not meet each other before the wedding.

According to a video that was uploaded to the bride’s YouTube account in October of 2022, she wore a white halterneck dress that seemed like it was made out of silk, a pair of long white gloves, and a thick veil for the important occasion.

She kept the rest of her appearance uncomplicated by wearing her hair in a neat bun and using just a minimum of makeup.

When she was being transported to the wedding venue, many people were confused because she appeared to be covered with fabric and a piece of an umbrella on top of her. Her main reason for doing this was that she didn’t want her soon-to-be-husband at the time and guests to see what she looked like before she said “I do” in the altar.

According to the video footage that Kwon uploaded to her channel in October 2022 and shared with her hundreds of thousands of viewers, Kwon fabricated the “contraption” herself.

She said in the transcript of the video, “I made this contraption so my husband and guests wouldn’t see me before I walked down the aisle,” which is seen in the video.

The lovely bride, who just tied the knot with her Korean companion, discussed further aspects of her creation in the comments area of the article.

She stressed that she did not do it “for dramatic effect,” but rather because she wanted to have a “reveal” for her “man” since she had to pass through numerous people before the ceremony. She said that she had to walk through several visitors before the ceremony.

Kwon drew attention to the fact that wedding customs in South Korea are distinct from those in the United States by writing, “In Korea, the groom and all guests take photos with the bride before the wedding.” Completely contrary to the American custom, which holds that it brings “bad luck.”

Kwon revealed in a TikTok remark that she purchased the dress from a vintage store in her homeland of New Orleans for the price of two hundred dollars before transporting it to South Korea. Many people were startled to see Kwon wearing a basic outfit while attending the event.

Sadly, she disclosed that there were some individuals who became upset with her style since the majority of Korean brides frequently choose spectacular wedding gowns; nevertheless, in her defense, she said that she enjoyed the “classic look.”

It would seem that the announcement was well worth the time spent waiting for it, as the couple appeared content in the videos that she uploaded to social media and shared with her fans there.

During the event, Kwon was not the only woman who shocked her husband with her appearance; instead, her partner stunned him with a unique dance performance that he had organized with his group of friends.
