Free yourself from your chains. A concerned neighbor shouted at Donna, who was working with Stray Rescue of St. Louis, when she came to let free a dog that had been neglected and left to starve.
The dog had stunningly beautiful eyes that were a brilliant shade of crystal blue, and it was tethered to a home by a lengthy and substantial chain. It was clear that he hadn’t eaten in quite some time since his ribs were protruding from below his skin.

The dog, whose they had given the name Cobalt, was over the moon to see them. He pounced on them, waggled his tail, and devoured the sausages that they had tossed to him before leaping back down.
Donna pulled out a pair of bolt-cutters and used every ounce of her might in an attempt to dismantle the chain. The neighbor yelled, “Break the chains,” and this motivated her to press even more vigorously. The link in the chain ultimately broke. The kind neighbor observed, “You got him free,” in an upbeat tone of voice.

Because he was ravenously hungry, Cobalt tore open the bag of dog food that was in the back of Donna’s vehicle. Donna makes the ominous proclamation that “He will NEVER, EVER be left behind again.”
