Vanna White is working hard to maintain her position in the competition.
We have learnt that the co-host of Wheel of Fortune, who is 66 years old, is now in discussions to extend her contract and continue working on the long-running game show after Pat Sajak’s retirement.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the specifics of the agreements have not been finalized at this time.
Alongside Sajak, who recently revealed that he would be leaving Wheel of Fortune at the conclusion of the program’s 41st season, White has been flipping and disclosing letters on the show for almost four decades now. Sajak just announced that he would be leaving the show.
According to Puck, who was the one who first broke the news of White’s ambitions, she is hoping to negotiate a compensation increase in her new contract. It has been stated that she has not received a raise in salary for the last 18 years; nevertheless, she has been awarded a few bonuses during this period. According to the publication, she has an annual income of $3 million, whereas Sajak has a salary that is five times more.
Representatives from Sony Pictures Television did not comment on the matter.
Sajak, who is 76 years old, made the announcement that he will be leaving from his job earlier this month.
“Well, it seems like the moment has arrived. I’ve come to the conclusion that our 41st season, which will begin in September, will be the final time I work in television,” the television personality said on Twitter. “I’ll have more to say in the coming months, but let’s just say that it’s been an amazing trip so far. Many, many thanks to everyone of you. (At the very least, it’ll keep the sites that rely on clickbait occupied!)”
In a statement, Suzanne Prete, the Executive Vice President of Game Shows at Sony Pictures Television, also revealed that Pat Sajak would be retiring in the near future and said that he will continue to work as a consultant on the show for the next three years.
It does not come as a complete shock that White intends to continue appearing on the game show. Back in December, she expressed that she was not yet prepared to give up her role on Wheel of Fortune.
I don’t even want to contemplate the possibility of it happening. She made this statement at the time, “I mean, we’re a team.” “That’s quite disheartening. I don’t even want to consider the possibility.”
White also said that it is difficult to picture a future in which she or Sajak do not host the game show series.
“All I can see is the two of us being there. “I’m at a loss for anything else to say,” she said.
“I just can’t imagine,” she said after that. “Pat and Vanna are synonymous with Wheel of Fortune in the minds of everybody. We’re like Ken and Barbie, you know? After been in everyone’s homes for the last four decades, it would seem strange to have someone else turn my letters.
