When a stray dog saw that someone was driving a vehicle and the door was open, she decided to get in. Little did she know at the time that her decision would irrevocably change the course of her life.
During the previous year, while Bill Shaver was in a hurry to use the toilet at a gas station, he forgot to close the rear door of the car, and this naughty dog leapt inside his vehicle.
The dog promptly climbed up and snuggled up in the back seat as if she had known the lady all of her life, despite the fact that the man’s wife was sitting in the front passenger seat of the vehicle.
The pair had been fishing in Missouri, and now they were on their way back home. As soon as they chose to come to a halt, the dog appeared in front of them unexpectedly. They came to the conclusion that the best thing for her would be for them to take her to the veterinarian after seeing that she had no intention of running away and was coming closer to be patted.
After giving her a bath and examining her, the doctors advised the family that the animal had most likely never been owned by anyone else and that it had likely run away from its home due to the fact that it revealed signs of having fought and had wounds that were caused by the presence of ticks and other maladies.
They came to the conclusion that the best way to help her recover her health was to drive her home and be there for her whenever she needed anything. Because she had already made up her mind to stay with them, she had no trouble adjusting and immediately began playing in the yard. They gave her the name River when they decided to take her in. River the dog is now enjoying the kind of life that she has always deserved, one that is replete with companionship, love, and doting caretakers.
