There will soon be a new member joining the Hawkins team! In the upcoming fifth and final season of the critically acclaimed science fiction thriller series, Stranger Things, Netflix has revealed that Linda Hamilton will be joining the cast of the show.

In addition to Hamilton, the primary cast that fans are familiar with and adore, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, and Maya Hawke, will also make their comeback appearances.

Jamie Campbell Bower will also make a comeback as the Big Bad after the gang was unable to beat Vecna during the fourth season.

Despite the fact that the 66-year-old Terminator actor will be joining the cast, the Duffer Brothers said in August 2022 that they would do their best not to bring any new characters into the upcoming season. This was done in order to be attentive of tying up the narrative for the players who are already in the game.

Matt said to Indiewire that “we’re doing our best to resist” creating new characters for the upcoming fifth season. “I guess we’re trying to avoid doing that so that we can put more of our attention on the original characters.” His twin brother Ross said, “We’ve got a great cast of characters here, and actors, and any moment that we’re spending with a new character, we’re taking time away from one of the other actors.”

After the highly anticipated release of the show’s penultimate fourth season in July 2022, the Duffer Brothers disclosed that the highly awaited fifth installment will be the show’s last episode in February 2023.

“When we first conceived of Stranger Things seven years ago, we mapped out the show’s whole narrative trajectory. They noted in a statement that they made at the time, “At the time, we predicted the story would last anywhere from four to five seasons.” “It turned out to be too large to tell in just four, but as you’ll see for yourselves very soon, we are now hurtling toward the conclusion of our story.”

The siblings also announced that there would be a time leap in season 5 in order to provide a more authentic picture of the program’s erstwhile young stars as they’ve grown up with the show throughout the course of the series.

“Ideally, we’d have shot [seasons 4 and 5] back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that,” Ross said in an interview with TVLine. “So, all of these are going to be discussions that we have with our writers once we get the room going,” you may say.

The show’s writers and cast members have hinted that fans are in for an emotional conclusion, but they have been careful to keep the show’s storyline secrets a well held secret.

Ross divulged the fact that some execs at Netflix shed a tear or two when they discussed their intentions for the fifth season.

“We do have an outline for season 5 and we pitched it to Netflix and they really responded well to it,” he told TheWrap about the streaming service’s reception of the idea. “I mean, it was very challenging. The narrative has come to a close. It was a crazy experience since I witnessed executives sobbing who I had never seen cry before.

Harbour confirmed that the series would have a touching conclusion by stating to Variety in May 2022 that he is familiar with the story’s conclusion and that “it’s quite moving and quite beautiful.”
