On Wednesday morning, a German Shepherd broke free and ran onto a major highway in the Detroit area. Because of this, cars were forced to slow down because of the dog.

An honest person Debbie Allen saw the dog was unable to move and seemed to be in extreme fear. She immediately took action to protect the dog from being ran over by a vehicle. She braced herself against the barrier in the center of the roadway, doing her best to keep the German Shepherd out of the path of oncoming traffic.

She asserts that despite the fact that the day had other plans for her, she was on her way to see a customer for work despite these other arrangements.

“I saw a dog in the middle of the road, and it was obviously limping, so I knew it had been hit,” she noted. “I knew it had been hit because it was in the middle of the road.”

Allen, who also has a dog, said that she had to pull over when her dog started running up the slope, which caused the traffic to stop. She wanted to make sure the German Shepherd would be safe, so she went back to retrieve it, but the dog ran away to the busy road as soon as it spotted her.

She went back to her vehicle and made an effort to obstruct traffic as she continued to follow the dog as a precautionary measure. A new driver was there waiting for her with the dog when she got back. After afterwards, members of the Michigan State Police arrived to provide assistance.

“I sat down with the dog and reassured him that he was in a secure location. She said, “I told him to look at me because he was trying to find a way out of the situation, and I told him, “No, no, look at me; you’re safe.”

Allen thought the German Shepherd was spotless, well-groomed, and well-fed. He also liked the dog’s manners. She formed the hypothesis that the dog ran away from his residence due to his anxiety over being alone.

When representatives from the Humane Society arrived, they were able to safely remove the dog from the premises. In spite of the rumor that the dog lacked a microchip, it was sent to a facility run by the Michigan Humane Society that was located nearby. Reports indicate that rescue workers were hunting for the dog’s owner in order to reunite the canine with him.

Allen is quoted as saying, “I am not a hero; I am just a human being.”
