The average lifespan of a mutt is far less than that of a human, but the lucky ones may have lengthy lives that continue well into their youth, and an extremely small percentage of them actually survive to be 20 years old.
One dog, however, may lay claim to the distinction of being the oldest living canine in the whole world, despite the fact that there are a number of senior dogs around the globe. At this moment, the burn has been handed down to a dog called Stones, who is still going strong at the age of 22 years and 8 months!
Julie said that the majority of the people who are familiar with Pebbles are shocked to learn how long she has survived.
“They are always making jokes about it, and they tell us all the time how amazing it is that we still have her, as most of them have known us for over 20 years, and they remember when we got her.”
Julie notified Guinness World Records that since “she was hopping and woofing at Bobby so much that he had no choice but to choose her up and check her out,” the record should be removed. “It was a moment worth cherishing the moment that the two met.”
They characterized Stones as being peaceful and kind, as well as the “queen of her home” who enjoys the attention she receives from her owners. Stones was a cat.
She takes great pleasure in listening to country music, swaddling herself in blankets, and going on walks when the weather is nice.
Stones is rather old for a dog, yet he is in excellent condition and has a fantastic appetite despite his advanced age. Stones is a real treasure. In 2012, the canine’s weight was reduced by having a doctor put her on a diet consisting mostly of protein-rich cat food, and in 2016, she celebrated her 22nd birthday by having a rack of ribs.
According to Julie, “the majority of the people who have had the pleasure of knowing Stones are unable to comprehend how long she has lived.” They make light of it all the time and comment on how incredible it is that we still have her, despite the fact that the majority of them have known us for over 20 years and can still remember the period when we first received her.
However, it wasn’t until just recently that they discovered Stones had a chance of holding the record. A few weeks earlier, a Chihuahua by the name of TobyKeith who was 21 years old and held the record for being the oldest living puppy made headlines after breaking the Guinness World Record. The Gregorys came to the conclusion that their senior dog did in fact have greater life experience, and they were able to prove this assertion. Pebbles still has a few years to go before achieving the all-time record: according to Guinness, the most seasoned canine ever, based on reliable age records, was an Australian cattle canine called Bluey, who lived for an astounding 29 years and five months. Pebbles still has a few years to go before hitting the all-time record. But taking into account how healthy Stones is even now and how well her family cares for her, we wouldn’t be surprised if this old dog lived for many more decades to come given how well they take care of her. Stones was born in the 1920s. The pair has said that they are “truly honored” by the record and that they believe their long-time pet has been a “beacon of our lives” during both happy and difficult moments in their lives. And to all pet owners who are interested in keeping their canines active and healthy for as long as possible, their advice is straightforward: treat them like members of your family.
“Treat them like family since that’s exactly what they are,” Julie advised Guinness. “Provide for them an upbeat and positive environment as much as is feasible, along with great clean nourishment and appropriate medical attention.” Congratulations are in order for the Stones on achieving this historic milestone! We hope that she will continue to have a lot of joy for a very long time.
