They were able to save him from a slaughterhouse, but unfortunately his mother did not make it out alive.
When Lewis first arrived to The Gentle Barn, he wasn’t exactly in the finest of health.
The stressful circumstances surrounding Lewis’ birth prevented him from obtaining enough colostrum, which would have helped him establish a stronger immune system. When he eventually contracted pneumonia as a result of this, he had a hard time staying alive.
They realized that he would not be able to endure the harsh conditions of the barn, so they took him inside their comfortable house with air conditioning. Due to the fact that he required a clean and comfortable atmosphere at all times, they will be able to provide him with care around the clock.
Lewis was going to have a substantial amount of additional good fortune as a result of the presence of yet another animal inside the house.
He goes by the moniker of Sky.
His previous owner, who was unable to cope with Sky’s high level of activity, sent him to The Gentle Barn so that he might find a new home. Despite the fact that they weren’t allowed to adopt Sky, he was a very effective therapy dog. He has the ability to make others laugh, to calm those who are apprehensive, and to comfort those who have trouble controlling their wrath.
When Lewis was finally allowed to go outdoors, that’s when the other people discovered that Lewis and Sky had a strong bond.
Sky was there to help Lewis adjust to his new life on the farm when Ellie took him for walks and introduced him to the other cows. She did this while Ellie was with Lewis.
After a week had passed, when Lewis was finally brought in, he weighed barely 50 pounds.
Currently, he is two years old and weighs more than one thousand pounds. He has grown to be far bigger than Sky.
They are no longer as physical with one another as they once were since they are both conscious of the enormous weight discrepancy that exists between them. Despite this, they continue to show each other the love that they have for one another.
