A guy in St. Louis, Missouri, was getting off the bus the other day when he saw a dog waiting for him at his stop. The dog was sitting there. He continued heading toward his home after saying hello to the puppy, which he had never seen before. When the guy finally reached his yard, he became aware that he had been being followed the whole way there by another individual.

“This dog just kind of followed him home,” Donna Lochmann, a chief life-saving officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), said about the situation. “In order to keep him under control, he confined him to his backyard, and then he called us,” he said.

The dog did not hesitate before following his new companion into the yard that was enclosed by fencing, where he then waited for his rescuers to come.

When Lochmann and her partner in rescue, Natalie, arrived to the man’s house, they anticipated seeing a terrified and aggressive dog in the man’s yard. They approached the fence with a leash in hand, fully expecting the dog to oppose their attempts to rescue it; nevertheless, to their amazement, the dog was more than happy to go with them and did not put up any resistance.

“Right off the bat, he was an absolute gentleman of a dog,” Lochmann said of the canine companion. “We were able to leash him up right away, and he went right along with us.”

The dog, which Lochmann and Natalie had named Orville, was placed into the Jeep by the two of them. Orville wanted to hang out in a different position than the rear seat, which is where freshly rescued canines often enjoy their travels to their new homes after being set free.

“He rode up near Natalie and me for most of the way back,” Lochmann remarked as they rode back. “He was just a happy little boy.”

As Orville was being driven to the safe haven by the people who had rescued him, his grin reached from ear to ear. After spending such a significant amount of time alone himself, the adorable puppy was at last receiving the love and attention he deserved.

Orville’s tail was twitching back and forth behind him as he made his first entrance through the doors of the animal shelter. His first response to meeting his new group of buddies, who consisted of the veterinary staff at the clinic, was not only endearing but also completely unexpected.

“The moment we got Orville to the clinic, he climbed in Molly’s lap,” SRSL stated in a post on Facebook. “We couldn’t believe it.” “He is absolutely adorable, and we couldn’t be happier that he’s here to get the assistance he requires.”

Orville’s new companions attended to the puppy’s wounds, provided him with the first of many wholesome meals, and then helped him get comfortable in his new kennel.

Even though the SRSL team was unable to determine where Orville had been living before to his rescue, it was obvious that he was now in the location from which he would benefit the most. Even though he had a long way to go before he was fully recovered, the tough little puppy’s will to live remained unbroken.

“He was just a super nice and grateful dog from the very beginning,” Lochmann said of the dog.

At the shelter where he now works, Orville may be seen spending time with the people he likes most. Since the first day he spent with them, his health has greatly improved, which indicates that he is now ready to join a family with whom he may spend the rest of his life.

Even though he is presently open to being adopted or placed in foster care, nobody has shown interest in giving Orville a permanent place to call home just yet. His coworkers at SRSL are aware that Orville will soon be adopted into a loving family, but they are more than content to continue being the lucky beneficiaries of his extraordinary hugs until that time comes.
