Recently, Augusta D. was taking her dog, Blue, to a dog park in the neighborhood when she witnessed something that gave her reason to be understandably concerned.
Blue normally runs and plays with the other dogs while they are all in plain sight. But in the space of a single fleeting second, Blue was abruptly nowhere to be found.
“I lost sight of him for a few moments in the park among all of the other dogs,” Augusta said to The Dodo. “It’s quite large, and there are a lot of dogs and people there,” she said.
However, it turned out that Blue was neither lost nor absent. He had only suspended his play, but it was for the most endearing of reasons.
Evidently, Blue had a premonition that the other parkgoer, who was sitting on a seat by himself, would benefit from his joyful and loving presence, and he went over to talk to him. As a result, Blue went up to him and sat down at his feet. There, huddled together with the other individual, was when Augusta’s roving gaze finally spotted him:
Augusta has a sneaking suspicion that Blue’s snuggles were timed to perfection despite the fact that it is difficult to say for certain what Blue may have perceived in the man that led him to decide to show him attention on that particular day.
“Blue always finds people who need a little extra love,” Augusta wrote in her journal.
And to tell you the truth, it’s always nice to get some extra love from a good dog like Blue, even if it’s just a little bit.
