A Yonkers, New York, resident made the decision to walk her dog outside on a brisk December morning despite the weather. She saw a crate sitting out on the street. As the dog got closer to the box, she could see a ginger cat curled up inside. The lady did not waste any time and brought the cat to a veterinarian center in the area. Everyone who was present was shocked at how quickly the cat had adjusted to being around them.

Lisa Winters, the director of Little Wanderers NYC, said that she was a sociable cat despite the fact that she was a little bit terrified.

The cat had a history of limb trauma, but other than that, it was determined that he was in good health after undergoing all of the appropriate testing. After that, the veterinarian team got in touch with Little Wanderers NYC in order to find a home for the cat. The Little Wanderers took responsibility for the cat and gave it the name Elf.

After seeing how fast Elf adjusted to his new surroundings, Lisa Winters began to believe that he already had a family. However, access to veterinary care is not as easy to come by as it should be, and there are times when people have no other option.

Elf found a place to call his own after a few weeks of being at Little Wanderers. Miri and Eleazar became his adoptive parents. They decided to call him Elf Sunkist, after the vibrant orange beverage that is almost identical to the color of his fur.

The recollections of the cardboard box belong to the distant past at this point.
