Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd will be parents to a little boy. On Thursday, the couple from Dancing with the Stars broke the news to their son, Shai, who is six years old.
Peta and Maks dance for the camera to the song “Clap When She Walks” by Big 50. As their kid glides into the frame, he is carrying a piece of paper that reads “Boy” in his handwriting. Peta and Maks dance in a manner that is befitting of professional dancers.
The happy couple celebrated the news by posting it on their own Instagram profiles, where they both have accounts.
The caption stated, “It’s a……,” in all caps. “The Chmerkovskiys as a family are now in the process of forming their very own soccer squad LOL! We are overjoyed to learn that Shai will have a baby brother and can’t wait to get to know the new addition to our family. He is already fairly huge for his age, and he enjoys kicking his mother in the ribs at all hours of the night!”
The statement went on to say, “However, when we found out that he was completely healthy, my partner and I shrieked with joy.” There is nothing quite like receiving that phone call, with the nurses pausing before telling you they’re all good results!! There is nothing quite like getting that phone call, with the nurses pausing before telling you they’re all excellent results. 🙏🏻❤️ We are going to have a home full of guys, including our very own little Hachi! I suppose that this indicates that we will need to attempt baby number 3 in order to acquire that female. #32weekspregnant #genderreveal #housefullofboys.”
The happy couple announced in January that they were expecting their second child together. The happy announcement came after the couple, who had only been married since 2017, revealed that they had suffered difficulty conceiving their second child due to reproductive issues.
The professionals from Dancing With the Stars sat down with ET’s Nischelle Turner in February to discuss their journey to parenthood with a second child and the reasons why they delayed announcing the news to the public.
“Because of the way it came about and some difficulties with getting pregnant, we just sort of went with nothing’s happening, keep it normal, keep it chill,” Maks said. “Keep it chill”
Nevertheless, they admitted that Shai already had a feeling that there was something cooking in his mommy’s tummy, and they said that they didn’t know what it was.
“We actually told [Shai] in our bathroom,” Peta added with a giggle as she explained the situation. “He was staring at my tummy, and he said, ‘Mommy, you’ve got a kid in there.’ And I said, ‘We do really.’ And he was so enthusiastic that he was just leaping about.”
