In December 2021, a food delivery worker had to say goodbye to her dog who was 14 years old. She never imagined that she would fall in love with another dog so quickly thereafter.
Then, a few weeks later, she came across a terrified little shih-poo, and that encounter altered both of their lives indefinitely.
“I see this scraggly dog darting across the road from behind the truck and in front of me,” the lady, who wishes to remain anonymous. “I see this scraggly dog darting across the road.”
She raced to locate the terrified dog and pulled into a parking spot nearby.
“He was so little, and given my freshly wounded heart from the loss of my own fur baby, I did not want to risk leaving him to be hit by someone,” she said. “I did not want to take the chance that someone would hurt him.”
The two of them instantly reconnected when they were reunited after a long search for the small puppy.
“When we caught eyes, I said, ‘Come here, friend,’ and he raced to me, practically leaping into my arms,” she recalled. “When we looked at one other again, I whispered, “Come here, buddy.” “It was a moment that almost felt like he had been searching for me his entire life, and he finally found me,” the speaker says.
The lady made many unsuccessful attempts to find the dog’s owner, and the pet did not have a microchip. The three-year-old dog, whom she called Stitch, was found to be in generally excellent condition after undergoing a comprehensive examination by the veterinarian, with the exception of his matted hair.
“After spending a week with Stitch, and there being no leads to his owner, I cut his hair,” she added. “I hope he finds his owner soon.” “At that precise moment, I became aware of how very similar he seemed to Lela. I was so overcome with emotion that I was unable to continue grooming him; instead, I simply held him.
Stitch had to put in some effort before he could accept the similarity and feel secure.
She said that he was timid and unsure of how to play with toys. “He was a little skittish and not sure how to play with toys,” she stated. Now, he enjoys playing with us and bringing us his toys more than anything else in the world. He has ended up being the most lovable dog in the world, and he brings an incredible amount of happiness into our life.
The lady acknowledges that she still misses Lela, but she is thankful for the time that she and Stitch were able to spend together and for the opportunity she now has with Stitch.
