Never wear a white dress if you are intending to attend a wedding as a guest; this is the unwritten law that applies to weddings. The reason for this is because nobody wants to see the bride’s big day being overshadowed by the presence of another person, especially not the groom. Obviously, this is something that is going to be determined by the color of the bride’s dress. If she is going to wear a pink dress, then the other visitor might perhaps get away with wearing a white dress as an exception. However, in order to prevent any misunderstandings, it is always best to consult the bride. Or, even better, simply choose a shade that contrasts with the bride without overwhelming her.
Since a woman’s wedding day is likely to be one of the most memorable and significant days of her life, we should give her space to enjoy the occasion in its entirety. However, one lady came under fire for the way she dressed as a wedding guest and received a lot of negative feedback. People believed that she shouldn’t have worn that dress to the wedding since it wasn’t acceptable for her role as a guest, despite the fact that all she wanted to do was show off her beautiful dress and had no intention of stealing the spotlight from the bride.
In March of 2023, a lady named Lauren Candy uploaded a video on TikTok showing her putting on a green dress she intended to wear to a wedding she was invited to as a guest.
Candy is well-known for posting videos on her Instagram account in which she wears a variety of the clothing she purchases.

The description that appeared on-screen said that the clothing was “quite possibly the most beautiful wedding guest dress ever.”
The garment costing $117 could be seen on the website of the online retailer ASOS, where it was described as a “bridesmaid cami embellished midi dress with embroidery in sage green.”
Candy insisted that the color of the garment is really green, and that it has brightly colored embroidered flowers all over it; however, numerous people attacked her for wearing it. They were especially critical of her for allegedly selecting a garment in a light hue that was so close in appearance to white that it nearly fooled everyone into thinking it was white.
Candy, however, could not help but reply to some of the remarks that were made regarding the garment, notably those who insisted that the dress was white.
“We’re getting too close to white. Someone stated, “If the light you have on in your room is sufficient to make it this light, it will probably show up white in the pictures or outside.” “Apply filters to the video as well. It’s a dreary day, but we have to get this done anyhow. Candy’s response was, “I swear to you ladies, I’m looking at it right now, and it’s green.”
Someone else said, “Do you think that white is too much of a neutral to wear to a wedding?” After that, Candy gave a response in which she said, “So putting it on today. I would very certainly put this on. It is definitely a pastel color, but white cannot be the color of this. However, I am also responsible for employing my light together with a pastel filter.
However, many more ladies came to her defense and agreed with her that the color of the dress was indeed green, despite what some of the other women were saying about it. This was in contrast to the assertions made by the other women.
Why does everyone keep remarking that it seems so near to white? One individual stated that they couldn’t believe how green it was. “Some people have said that it’s white. Another individual said that it had a sage-like green color to it.
But Candy believed that the remarks should be addressed, especially the ones that said it was “totally not appropriate.”
The on-screen message said, “Y’all making me doubt my eyesight now, so let’s prove it’s green,” and then challenged the audience to do just that.
“Personally, if someone wore it to my wedding I’d be saying how beautiful they are and can I borrow it, but of course, everyone has their own opinions,” she added in the video. “Personally, I’d be saying how beautiful they are and can I borrow it.”
She lay the garment down next to a white vest so that everyone could have a better idea of what it looked like. The striking hue difference between the two was brought out by this.
She said, “There is no mistaking the color of the dress.”
