It was a very fortunate day when several friendly kayakers retrieved a lost and scared dog from the banks of a river in Iowa. The animal had gotten lost in the river.

After being scared by fireworks on July 4, 2021, Ethyl ran away and has not been seen or heard from since then. She had been gone for almost a week.

A group of kayakers in Iowa who were paddling down the Chariton River came upon her 15 miles from her home. She was found to be hobbling and covered in ticks at the time of their discovery.

While Jessica Rose and her friends were taking Ethyl on board one of their kayaks, they saw that she was wearing a collar and tag that both had the phone number of her family on them. Rose contacted them on the phone to reassure them that their dog was OK and to make arrangements to meet them farther downstream in the river.

Rose noted in a TikTok video she uploaded about their outing that “Her mom was so excited I could hear her screaming through the phone.” The video has gotten more than 100,000 views.

Because the next rest break wouldn’t be for another four hours, the companions needed to persuade Ethyl, who was quite concerned, to relax and enjoy the ride. She did it in the end, nibbling on Cheetos and drinking water in the while.

The story of Ethyl’s rescue may be found detailed in the app Tiktok (TikTok).

She is a wonderfully kind person, and we are thrilled that she will soon be returning home. Because it is necessary for her to do so, she is going to take a bath. added Rose.

Ethyl, age 10, returned home without incident and was reunited with her family, despite the fact that she was dehydrated, had scratches, and bruises on her body.
