For the sake of a worthy cause, Justin Baldoni is cutting off his long hair.

On Saturday, the alum of Jane the Virgin, who is 39 years old, published a video on Instagram of himself cutting his hair to give it to the Locks of Love charity. This organization specializes in producing bespoke wigs for children who have lost their hair due to medical treatment.

“And it’s done,” was the message that Baldoni added to the photo, along with the hashtags “#fouryearsinthemaking” and “#you can’telliwasnervousbymygumchewing.”

“The reason you’re cutting it like that baby is that Daddy’s going to donate his hair to somebody who can’t grow their hair because maybe they got cancer like Uncle Zach, or they lost their hair,” Baldoni explains to his son Maxwell Roland-Samuel, who is 5 years old at the time. “The reason you’re cutting it like that baby is that Daddy’s going to donate his hair.”

“So it seems like he’s going to hand all of this hair off to somebody. “That’s why you need to cut it perfectly right there,” he added, pointing to the precise location on his child’s head where the haircut should be made. “Are you prepared? Okay, here we go.”

While his younger sister, Maiya Grace, who is seven years old, covers her eyes, Maxwell continues to cut the first strand of hair off their father’s head. She asks in an endearing manner, “Tell me when it’s done,” and I can’t wait to hear it.

The director of Five Feet Apart tells his son, as he holds up the lock of hair that his son cut off, “Someone’s gonna be so happy to have this hair.” After that, his wife Emily gives him a kiss and tells him, “I love your heart.”

Baldoni explains, with tears in his eyes, that he is not sobbing because he is going to chop his hair. I’m in tears because I know that someone will benefit from this.”

After that, the video shows Baldoni’s children finishing cutting the remainder of their father’s hair and standing with the ponytails next to their parents. After that, a skilled hairdresser will straighten and style the actor’s hair.

The father of two then asks his children if they are ready, at which time they count to three in a lovely transition before withdrawing their hands from the camera for the big reveal of the father’s new hairdo, which has his hair cut shorter.

Emily gushes her approval of her husband’s new hairstyle to him while planting a peck on the top of his head. “I love it,” she says. When the video comes to a close, it does so on a lighthearted note, with her commenting, “He’s super hot,” as Baldoni sits in the chair of the stylist.

Yael Grobglas, who played his former co-star on Jane the Virgin, was one of the many people who left a remark on Baldoni’s video. She quipped, “Oh, thank God.” Amanda Kloots commented, “Oh, that looks GOOOOOOOOD!!!! The very cutest video of a family ever! It’s a victory for Baldoni’s!”
