When Lindsey and Daria, a couple from Belgium, were vacationing in Spain in the month of September, the last thing they anticipated bringing back as a memento from their trip was a frail and undernourished kitten. The couple realized that the orange tabby had chosen them to be his family when it accompanied them back to where they were staying.
“I think he knew then and there that he had finally found safety and his forever home,” Lindsey told The Dodo. “I think he knew then and there that he had finally found his forever home.” “We definitely did.”
“He looked extremely underweight, literally weighing only 0.7 kilograms [1.5 pounds], and was covered in fleas, bite wounds, and scabs,” Lindsey stated of the cat when they initially discovered him. Kaizar is now his name.
When Kaizar was initially rescued, he was terrified of most humans and animals he encountered. “Then he gradually started growing more curious of the world and the other people around us (as well as of his [Chihuahua] sister, Fyssa),” said Lindsey. “[His Chihuahua] sister, Fyssa, was also one of the things that piqued his interest.”
After being gradually introduced by Lindsey and Daria, Kaizar quickly developed romantic feelings for his new furry sister. “We always joke about how he probably mistook her for a cat since he absolutely despises dogs,” Lindsey said. “Since he hates dogs so much, she must have looked like a cat to him.”
“All he wanted was to be as close as possible to her, to cuddle her and for her to cuddle him,” she continued. “Fyssa was acting a little standoffish and cautious around his presence,” the author writes.
On the other hand, when the family was traveling, Fyssa eventually gave in and let Kaizar to cuddle up next to her. After that, she started playing with him. “It was a little awkward at first because they both had no idea how to interact with one another,” Lindsey said. “It was a little awkward.” “However, they were able to make it work.”
As Kaizar matured from a little kitten into an adult cat, Fyssa was a significant figure in his life. She shared with him all she had learned over the years about being a dog, and Kaizar was a very good pupil. He now even pants exactly as his older sister does.
At first, the pair expressed their concern by saying, “We thought cats only pant when they’re either sick or thirsty,” as was said by Lindsey. But it turns out that he merely wants to imitate his older sister, which led to three unneeded trips to the veterinarian.
In addition, Fyssa instructed Kaizar in how to walk while being led by a leash, how to play fetch, and even how to bark and snarl.
At this point, Kaizar and Fyssa work together on everything. “As soon as Fyssa gets up to do anything, he comes running from wherever he is to do whatever it is that she’s about to do,” Lindsey said. “He does whatever it is she’s about to do.” “It’s kind of like how she treats me, really! He’s like a dog for my dog.”
“Ever since the day that we discovered Kaizar, there hasn’t been a single dull moment for any of us,” Lindsey said. “He never fails to amuse us by engaging in activities that are either charming or humorous. He is the center of everyone’s attention at all times, and he is well aware of it.
