When Bill came to Vintage Pet Rescue, the volunteers who were helping him were so busy that they weren’t sure how to fulfill the 10-year-old blind dog’s demand to be carried all the time. Bill’s need is described as “constant.”

Suddenly they recalled that they had a human dummy that was full size.

That was the optimal course of action.

This is not the first time that the rescue organization has made use of the enormous dummy that goes by the moniker FARC in order to calm senior canines.

When rescue owners Kristen and Marc Peralta wanted a means to cope with their senior pug Shorty’s separation anxiety, they turned to the idea that would eventually become FARC. When Marc would go, Shorty’s life would fall apart because he would miss his father so much.

Then, Kristen’s mother, Joanne McManus, came up with a brilliant idea: Why not put one of Marc’s shirts on a gigantic dummy?

Everything worked well without a hitch.

According to what Kristen Peralta shared with The Dodo, at first they “thought it would just sort of be a hilarious picture opportunity.” “But to my surprise, it worked, and the dogs really adored it!”

Today, anytime a puppy at the shelter needs a little bit more care, FARC is there to save the day. Even while a real person needs to get up at some point, Jimmy is quite content to lounge about for an infinite amount of time, to the joy of the dogs who are curled up in his warm, plastic arms.

According to Peralta, “We have employed FARC throughout the years anytime we have had a new dog in the house with separation anxiety or stress.” “It is just astounding to see how the dogs respond,” said the man.

FARC has shown to be the ideal method for maintaining Bill’s composure and contentment at those times when rescue workers are unable to physically hold him since Bill is a very nervous youngster who does not like going on adventures or spending time alone.

“Certainly we would love to be able to hold Bill all day, but there’s always a lot to be done here at the rescue,” Peralta said. “We have a lot of work to do.” “As long as he’s comfortable and happy, that’s all that counts – that’s all that matters.”

Bill was ultimately welcomed into his new family after spending many weeks being comforted by the loving hug of FARC, who is inanimate. Now that he has someone who cares for him and has the time to spend with him, he is receiving all the love and attention that he so well deserves.
