For many weeks, Halie Kutscher’s son, who was then nine years old, held a stuffed orange cat Beanie Baby in his arms as he prayed that his actual cat, Oliver, would return.
What the youngster did not realize was that Oliver was already on his way, walking approximately 40 kilometers in order for them to be reunited as soon as possible.
While the Kutscher family was having their belongings packed up to relocate from their house in Bridgeport, West Virginia, to their new home in Morgantown, they suddenly noticed that their cat had vanished. Following an exhaustive search, they came to the terrible conclusion that the only option was to go on without him, but they vowed to continue looking in Bridgeport.
Kutscher expressed their continued optimism to The Dodo by saying, “We knew that we had some time to keep going back to the old home to seek for him, so we were still optimistic.” “We would go back every weekend.”
But, Oliver was never to be found once the family had returned from their trips.
My kid would wail nonstop when we left and there was no trace of him, Kutscher said. “Every time we went, he was nowhere to be found.” “It broke my heart to witness what happened.”

As soon as the Kutschers were finally able to sell their home, their level of optimism started to decrease. They braced themselves for a difficult talk with their son, during which they would break the devastating news to him that it was likely that Oliver was no longer with them.
“His dad and I did not expect we would have to cope with the loss of a pet at such a young age,” Kutscher said. “We had no idea we would have to deal with it at all.”
And suddenly, almost out of thin air, a well-known pair of ears materialized in their backyard.
Unbelievable as it may seem, Oliver had tracked them down.
Kutscher said that the individual “was simply looking up at us.” “I immediately grabbed him in my arms, and as soon as we got inside, I went down on my knees and just held him as he bawled his eyes out.” He did not move from his position next to me even as the rest of the family and the dogs crowded around him.
After some time had passed, the family had Oliver scanned for a microchip at the local veterinarian. The results of the scan showed that Oliver had somehow made his way back home all by himself.

Oliver had seemingly not changed despite all that he had gone through.
Kutscher described him as having no fear nor reluctance in any way. “He simply seemed glad and delighted to be home, despite his obvious exhaustion.”
After such a challenging voyage, Oliver can, at last, relax now that he is settled into his new house. It’s possible that his family may never learn how their crafty cat discovered them, but they’re overjoyed that he did.
