Francesca Cappucci, a beloved anchor in Los Angeles who passed away due to lung cancer, is being remembered as “a warrior” and “a lover of music” by her colleagues and friends.
Cappucci passed away on March 30, her sons said in a devastating Instagram post on Wednesday. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Cappucci worked as a music reporter for ABC7 in Los Angeles.
The statement was published in conjunction with a memorial broadcast that the news station presented for the departed television celebrity.
“That causes me a great deal of anguish and sorrow… A melancholy is so profound that it makes writing it almost difficult… And so excruciatingly difficult to understand…, “the beginning of the caption, which was afterward signed by her sons Ian, 24, and Will, 19, respectively. “To report that on March 30th at 9:32 in the morning, my closest friend, mentor, creative partner, idol, and mother, Francesca Cappucci, passed away quietly.”
When they found out on July 18 that Cappucci had been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic lung cancer, they remembered being “shocked.”
“I clearly recall and will never forget the moment I first looked at her with eyes wide open, full of shock and astonishment after receiving the news,” the post added. “I will never forget that moment, and I will never forget how it made me feel.” “That didn’t seem real, and it seemed almost unjust, especially considering how healthy she was and the fact that she had never smoked. When I asked my mother why she had chosen me out of everyone else, she replied, “Why not me?” That particular woman was my mum. She did not want to burden anybody with the weight of feeling the anguish that she was going through, thus she did not want to give anyone the news.”
After opening out about their mother’s life following the diagnosis, her sons said that they collaborated with her other loved ones and the medical staff at City of Hope to “together fight for her in this long and hard struggle at her side each and every single second.”
“It was a protracted and difficult struggle. I can still recall advising my mother to visualize herself in the middle of a desert and to look for an oasis, which would provide her with some comfort. She persevered right up to the very end. She did not hold back anything.”
They spoke highly of their mother in that “a fighter,” and then went on to say, “Taking care of my mother was not only an honor but also a delight and a privilege.” A fighter for her children, a fighter for what is right, a fighter against injustice, a lover of music, and, according to those who have known her, a legend in the 1980s and 1990s who made a name for herself by spreading stories and interviewing the most creative musicians in the world. I learned so much more of who she already was.”
The brothers finished their speech with, “She has left behind a significant amount here on earth. She has created such a large void in our lives, and I’m not even sure if it can be remed.i.e.d… Despite the fact that she is no longer with us, we continue to carry and feel her presence everywhere we go. We adore you, Mum. We have no doubt that you are aware of the location of that oasis. We are going to miss you…”
According to Ian’s statement to The Hollywood Reporter, his mother passed away while she was being treated at the Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, California.
He went on to say that she had never smoked and that she “was an advocate for the health and ran and exercised every day, which is why [her sickness] was such a shock.”
Cappucci made an impression on film director Quentin Tarantino during her career, and as a result, Tarantino chose to name a character in his film Once Once a Time… in Hollywood after her. In the 2019 production, Lorenza Izzo portrayed Francesca Cappucci in the part that she was given. The opulent fictitious figure was also Rick Dalton’s wife in the film adaptation starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
Ian said that his mother was “blown away” by the recognition, despite the fact that she and Tarantino had never met at the time of her passing away.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, not only was Cappucci known for his work as an iconic anchor, but he also portrayed the role of a reporter on a number of popular television programs, including 7th Heaven, The Colbys, Charmed, Columbo, and The Practice, as well as the film Beverly Hills Ninja.
She used her experience working behind the camera to direct a short film titled “Not Me.” It made its premiere at film festivals in 2018 with Rudy Pankow from Outer Banks in the starring role. According to the site, she and Ian worked together to write the script for the movie.
The information that she was “surrounded by” her boys and “close friends and relatives” as she exhaled her last breath was included in her obituary. She first started her career in the media industry on the airwaves at the KIQQ radio station in Los Angeles, where she began reading public service announcements, before moving on to dominate the small screen. She worked at ABC7 for 10 years after “listeners fell in love with Francesca’s voice and name, which were both steeped in beauty and melody.”
According to her obituary, she conducted interviews there with legendary figures such as Rod Stewart, David Bowie, and Michael Jackson.
In her private life, she was devoted to taking care of pets and serving as her boys’ number-one supporter while they followed their own interests.
She is survived by her sons, six nieces and nephews, and nine relatives in addition to her own family.
“Those whose lives she changed will never forget her, and they will always adore her for it. She will live on in their hearts forever. May the Lord grant her soul eternal rest, “her loss notice came to an end.
