If our gallery of before-and-after photos of guys who had grown beards wasn’t enough to persuade you that men have a far more attractive appearance when they have facial hair, this anecdote most certainly will. Gwilym Pugh, a young entrepreneur who was just 21 years old when he founded a profitable insurance firm, did it in the spare bedroom of his home. Yet, the combination of working from home and suffering accidents caused him to put on a significant amount of weight. 280 pounds, if we’re being precise. Nevertheless, after being encouraged by his barber to grow a ginger beard, Gwilym made a lifestyle adjustment that prevented further damage to his life.
“At that time I was very overweight, working 12 hours a day, and plagued with ailments which meant I couldn’t exercise at all,” the Welshman shared his story with Kathryn Williams from Wales Online. “At that time I was working 12 hours a day,” he said. “The company was going well, but I made the decision that I needed to get my life in order and that I wanted to be healthy again,” the owner said.
Some years ago, Gwilym and his close pals established themselves as a folk band. His barber advised him to cultivate a beard so that he would seem more rugged. The newly baked singer made the decision to further his makeover by cleaning up his diet in order to complement his new appearance. The most significant shift, on the other hand, was when he left his desk job.
The guy who dropped 90 pounds over a period of five years described his success by saying, “That was the greatest thing for my health since I quit sitting for nine to 10 hours a day.” Gwilym started an Instagram account at the same time that he was growing out his beard and decreasing his body fat. When some time had passed, Welsh tailor Nathan Palmer stumbled across a photograph of the now-bearded model, at which point the situation started to rapidly deteriorate.
Gwilym is now signed with the London modeling agency AMCK Models. He has worked on advertising campaigns for major brands such as Vans, Bud Lite, Diesel, and others. Because of his dedication, he was able to become an ambassador for House 99, the new male grooming brand created by David Beckham!
If you go at the before and after images of Gwilym Pugh’s weight reduction transformation, you could find the motivation you need to make positive changes in your own life as well.

This is Gwilym Pugh. Or, rather, this was Gwilym Pugh in 2007 before he radically changed his look and became a top model.
Founding your own business at the age of 21 is impressive, but Cardiff -born Gwilym’s CV is unbelievable.
And so is the fact that he dropped from 20 stones to 13.5 stones to become a successful model who has graced the pages of GQ and Hunger magazine and has worked with David Beckham.
The 33-year-old, who played basketball for Wales at under-16 level and operated a life insurance company from his spare bedroom, put on weight while working from home and was prevented from training due to his knee injury.
But now, Gwilym is gaining fans across the world thanks to his ginger bearded-look and urban-chic versus stylish explorer, on Instagram.
And this is what he looks like now.
