On the night of his big performance at the Oscars 2023, Brendan Fraser was able to count on the support of his family.
On Sunday, the 54-year-old actor brought along two of his sons and his girlfriend, Jeanne Moore, to accompany him to the Academy Awards.
On the red carpet, Fraser was joined by Moore and his two sons, Holden, 18, and Leland, 16, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Afton Smith. Fraser is one of the nominees for the award for Best Actor for his performance in The Whale. Griffin, who is 20 years old, is also Fraser and Smith’s son.
On the red carpet at E!, Fraser’s sons gave their thoughts on their father’s nomination to Laverne Cox. Fraser’s sons were interviewed by Laverne Cox.
“We cannot express how incredibly proud we are. To the stars and back, “Holden stated this, and Leland echoed his sentiments exactly.
Following the announcement that Fraser had received his first Oscar nomination, the actor discussed with Extra how his three sons had contributed to making the moment even more memorable.
When asked what was going through his mind when he heard the news, Fraser shared his response, which was, “Astonishment and surprise, because my kids surprised me with cake and balloons.”
He said it with a chuckle and added, “They sneaked into the house, and they had a plan.” “Both that and the feeling that sharing that moment with my loved ones is now one of my most treasured recollections,” she said.
After announcing their separation in December 2007, Fraser and Smith have continued to co-parent their children together. Fraser mentioned in a 2018 interview with GQ that his children visit him “all the time.”
Though Fraser doesn’t share much about his kids, he has talked about them from time to time in interviews. His sons Holden and Leland made another rare public appearance as they joined Fraser for a recent screening of his film The Whale.
The actor posed for photos with his boys ahead of the screening, where he was also joined by girlfriend Moore.
The Oscars air live on ABC on Sunday, March 12, at 8 p.m. ET.
