After the death of his ex-wife Caroline McWilliams from multiple myeloma in 2010 when she was 64 years old, the prolific actor Michael Keaton, who is best known for playing the titular roles in “Batman” and “Beetlejuice,” has never married again. He is best known for his roles as “Batman” and “Beetlejuice.”
Due to the fact that Keaton was very discreet about his personal life and almost never discussed his romantic partnerships, very little is known about how he came to be in a relationship with fellow actress McWilliams, whom he wed in 1982.
Keaton, whose actual name is Michael Douglas, began his career in the entertainment industry in 1975 with parts that were considered to be of a supporting nature on both television and in movies. He received his big break in Hollywood when he played the fast-talking con guy, Bill “Blaze” Blazejowski, in the comedy film “Night Shift.” Prior to that, he worked as a puppeteer on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”
When she met Keaton, McWilliams, who was six years older than her husband, was already a famous figure in her own right. Keaton was the love of her life, but she had a successful career in her own right. The actress, who was born in Seattle, launched her career in acting by appearing in soap operas “In 1969, she starred in the television series “Guiding Light,” and throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, she was best known for her role as Marcy Hill in the family sitcom “Soap” and its spinoff, “Benson.” She had a highly busy presence on television up to the year 2003, after which she moved on to directing theatrical productions.
Keaton and McWilliams were married for a total of eight years, during which time they had a son named Sean Douglas, who was born in 1983. The little child went on to have a great career as a composer and producer who is in high demand.
Sadly, though, the marriage of Keaton and McWilliams failed and they divorced in the year 1990. When she was first told she had a kind of cancer in her bone marrow, she and her ex-partner were no longer together.
In an interview with Elle conducted not too long after the passing of McWilliams, Keaton provided readers with an insight into his past relationship with his ex-wife. He said that his sister and brother had told him that losing an ex-spouse is “harder than you think,” and he acknowledged that he had peculiar sentiments over McWilliams’ death. He claimed that his sister and brother had told him that losing an ex-spouse is “harder than you think.”
“Not in a negative manner, necessarily, since we had stayed close,” Keaton added. “Not that it’s necessarily a bad thing.” “She was an incredible example of motherhood.”
The actor also thanked McWilliams for growing their kid to be a “wonderful person” and stated that the reason he has a close relationship with Douglas even now is due of her. McWilliams raised their son to be a “great guy” Keaton honored his “kind, bright, hilarious, brilliant, kind, and compassionate” best friend, who also happens to be his only kid, during his acceptance speech for the Golden Globe he received in 2015 for his role in the film “Birdman.” In addition, River, who is Douglas’s kid with his wife Rachel Bartov, adores his grandpa. Keaton is a doting grandfather.
When his marriage to McWilliams ended in divorce, Keaton began a relationship with his “Batman” co-star Michelle Pfeiffer in 1989. He then dated “Friends” actress Courteney Cox from 1990 to 1995, despite the fact that he never married again. He has refused to comment on his personal relationships, although he did reveal to The Guardian that he had previously shown interest in expanding his family.
“But then Sean informed me that he preferred being an only kid, so I guess everything worked out for the best.”
Marni Turner, who had been Keaton’s long-term girlfriend at the time, accompanied him to the Emmy Awards in 2022. As Keaton’s name was mentioned for the award for Best Actor for the miniseries “Dopesick,” she leaned in and gave him a passionate kiss on the lips.
There have been rumors circulating since 2016 that the two had been seeing one other. In spite of the fact that they very seldom appear in public together as a couple, Keaton and Turner have been seen going about their daily lives in Los Angeles, such as shopping for groceries.
