When dogs look like famous people, it’s a strange phenomenon, but it’s also hilarious. Not in the sense that they appear precisely like people, but rather in the sense that they manage to capture the personality and expressions of a well-known figure.
This was the situation with a dog at the shelter known as Pawl Ruff, who everyone says looks like — you got it — actor Paul Rudd. Pawl Ruff was given the name.
The animal shelter had high hopes that the dog’s amusing resemblance to the star of Ant-Man would help them find it a new home, and they even attempted to persuade the actor himself to get involved.
Rudd is one of the most popular and well-known actors working in Hollywood today. He is most recognized for his role as the superhero Ant-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he has also starred in comedies such as Clueless and Anchorman.
And just lately, the Collierville Animal Shelter, which is located in Tennessee, came to the conclusion that one of their canines may very well be the actor’s identical twin.
“When creating love connections between pets and people today, we learned that one of our dogs is destined to be with Paul Rudd,” the shelter posted on Twitter. “Whilst making love connections between pets and people today.”
The dog, which was formerly known as Waffle House, weighs a combined total of 65 pounds, as reported by Pet Finder.
As a result of the widespread consensus at the shelter that he had a striking resemblance to Paul Rudd, he was quickly rechristened “Pawl Ruff.”
If you still aren’t convinced, a lady called Jenny Dixon created a collage of pictures illustrating how “Pawl” and Paul share many of the same facial features:
The similarity is not just based on physical appearance though. According to the people who work at the shelter, Pawl Ruff, like like his famous namesake, is a truly kind person.
“I’m the type of man you would like to have as your next-door neighbor, closest friend, or lifelong partner since I’m laid back and easygoing. Maybe I am the canine embodiment of Paul!” the inscription on his adoption page posits.
After that, the shelter made it their duty to inform the actor about the dog that looked very much like him. They sent a message to the actor through Twitter in the hopes that he would answer or possibly adopt the puppy himself. As the guy does not have a Twitter account of his own, they tagged @AntMan in the tweet.
They asked, “In all seriousness, is there anything more courageous than taking in a stray animal?” in their post.
It is unclear if Paul Rudd ever noticed the tweet (he is somewhat busy at the moment with the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantum Mania, so we’ll give him some slack), but Pawl Ruff did end up having his very own Hollywood ending.
An announcement was made by the shelter stating that Pawl Ruff has been adopted! Not by anybody in Hollywood, but rather by those living directly in his hometown of Collierville.
Pawl Ruff is now reveling in the kind of exposure that would make Paul Rudd pleased, having become something of a local celebrity as a result of his video going viral.
Pawl is seen holding a copy of the local newspaper on which he was featured on the front cover in a tweet sent out by the Municipality of Collierville. In another, the dog even leaves his “pawtograph,” which is his signature.
Although the actual Paul Rudd didn’t wind up taking Pawl Ruff home with him, celebrities occasionally do end up adopting their own doppelgangers. For example, actor Dennis Quaid took in a cat called Dennis Quaid at one point in his life. Pawl Ruff didn’t make the cut.
Even if it wasn’t supposed to be this time, it’s evident that the star of Ant-Man, Paul Rudd, has a soft spot for dogs since he has his own dog as a pet. For what it’s worth, Paul Rudd has a pet dog of his own.
