On Thursday, Melissa Etheridge expressed her sorrow at the passing of the late David Crosby.
Etheridge was able to conceive with the aid of a sperm donor who was 81 years old.
Etheridge wrote, “I am mourning the loss of my buddy, and Bailey’s and Beckett’s biological father, David.” “I am grieving the loss of David.”
“He bestowed upon me the blessing of a family. I shall be indebted to him, to [his son] Django, and to his wife Jan for all of eternity. His body of work, including music, as well as his legacy will serve to motivate many future generations. A genuine treasure.”
Bailey, who is now 25, and Beckett, who passed away from opioid addiction in 2020, are Etheridge and her former companion Julie Cypher’s children. The sperm that the Crosby, Stills & Nash musicians donated was used in their conception.
In an interview that she gave to CNN’s Larry King Live at the beginning of the year 2000, Etheridge disclosed the fact that Crosby was, in fact, the donor for her and Cypher’s children.
Many of her admirers took to social media to express their sorrow and pay their respects. One reader said, “You’re the first person I thought of when I heard of his loss because of the big intentional choice made to have him father your kid.” This was in reference to the fact that you had chosen to have him as your son’s father. “It’s so tragic it hurts my heart.”
In addition, Etheridge has a daughter and a son from a previous relationship with Tammy Lynn Michaels. An unknown donor carried both of the infants to full term and gave birth to sets of identical twins.
In the year 2020, after Beckett had passed away, Crosby issued a brief statement in response to a tweet that said he had no previous communication with Beckett.
His response was straightforward “Not true.”
His wife, Bing, sent a statement to Variety in which she confirmed her husband’s passing. She expressed her sorrow by stating, “It is with tremendous grief that after a lengthy illness, our cherished David (Croz) Crosby has passed away,”
“He felt the warmth and companionship of his wife and soulmate Jan, as well as their son Django. Even if he is not physically here with us anymore, his kind spirit and compassionate humanity will continue to direct and motivate us. His iconic songs will ensure that his legacy will live on for generations to come.”
