The poor dog, Petey, was confined to the rescue for more than a year.
In spite of all that is going on around him, Petey always manages to have a cheerful expression on his face.

Despite the difficulties that Petey has encountered, there is nothing that can dampen the joy that he has in life.

Even after being expelled from the cramped and understaffed shelter where he had been for a lengthy period of time, Petey was having a good time and making the most of his newfound freedom.

Because the people who were interested in adopting Petey couldn’t commit at the time, the staff at the shelter called the SPCA of Wake County to inquire about the organization’s availability to aid in placing Petey in a new home.

Given how cute the eyepatch on this man is, it’s hard to believe that anybody wouldn’t want to take him under their wing and raise him as their own.

The SPCA did not have any reservations about taking Petey in. Petey was also looking forward to making the acquaintance of some new people.

Samantha Ranlet, a spokesperson for the SPCA of Wake County, said that as soon as the dog arrived, “he was pulling on the leash trying to get through the entryway.” “He collided with the building as he fled.”

They couldn’t get their heads around the fact that such a cute puppy like Petey could have been forgotten about.

Ranlet said that he had a very outgoing and sociable personality immediately away. It was hard for us to comprehend that nobody was interested in him.

The SPCA of Wake County wasted no time in posting a photo of Petey along with the news that he had been adopted on their various social media platforms.

They were concerned that he would, once again, be overlooked in favor of the more manageable canines.

To our great good fortune, that was not the case. A few short weeks later, Petey was able to find his permanent family.

He was only there for a little over a month.

The snapshot of Petey’s gorgeous face was all it took for his new family to fall head over heels in love with him.

Petey wasted little time getting used to his new residence.

He takes pleasure in sleeping in his own warm and cozy bed.

He takes pleasure in spending time with his family in the garden, where they often play fetch. Petey is a gentle-spirited young man who takes pleasure in giving kisses to his peers.

The fact that he also has a canine sister and hundreds of other canine friends from the dog park makes the situation even better.

“He is the perfect addition to the team. Petey is revealing more of his charming nature to us as a result of the tremendous adoration that he receives. His new family shared their joy at being able to include him in their lives.

According to the SPCA of Wake County, many dogs, much like Petey, end up having to spend a significant amount of time in shelters.

They have between eight and ten dogs in their care that have been seeking a forever family for more than a year at this point.

A further comment was made by Ranlet, who said, “We’re rooting for them to find their tribe.” They have earned it, in my opinion.

In animal shelters, black dogs such as Labrador Retrievers, Shepherds, and Rottweilers often spend lengthier amounts of time than other dog breeds.

This is because of the negative connotation that is attached to black canines as a result of the way in which they are represented in the media.

In addition to this, they could seem menacing, nasty, or unsightly in images. Pets who are older, canines of larger sizes, and kinds of pit bulls all have a more difficult time finding new homes.
