There was no question in anyone’s mind about Loretta Lynn and Alan Jackson’s emotions for one another. They had a bond that lasted many decades and were filled with admiration for one another.
By catching Jackson by surprise at the ceremony in 2017, Lynn made Jackson’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame an even more unforgettable experience.
On Tuesday, October 4, Lynn passed away at the age of 90 years. Jackson shared two photographs of the pair together on his Twitter account, one of which was taken during the ceremony when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
In the comments section next to the images, he wrote, “Sweet @lorettalynnofficial, there will never be another Honky Tonk woman like you.” You are going to be missed by me. – AJ”
The person who does Lynn’s hair and cosmetics, Melissa Schleicher, recently uploaded a video that demonstrated how important Jackson was to Lynn. As Schleicher phrased it:
“For years, as she was getting ready, Loretta would incessantly inquire about @officialalanjackson and tell me how much she admired him,” said the narrator. “It was very sweet.” “One day, when I was getting her ready with [her daughter] @patsylynnrussell, I texted Alan and asked him to surprise her, which, of course, he did,” she said.
Lynn’s “priceless” reaction to Jackson’s surprise phone call is captured on camera and can be seen here. When she got a message from him, she couldn’t contain her pleasure!
Schleicher continued by saying, “This film of two of my longest customers is something that I will appreciate for the rest of my life.” The video is included in the embed below.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lynn’s family and friends at this difficult time. Her presence will be sadly missed.
