On this Mother’s Day, Ryan Dorsey thinks about his mother, Naya Rivera, with warm feelings of appreciation and devotion.

The actor, 38, went to Instagram on Monday to express his feelings on the Christmas season as he grieves the loss of his ex-wife, with whom he has a 6-year-old son, Josey. The Glee star tragically lost her life in a drowning accident in July of 2020, when she was 33 years old. She was a victim of the tragedy.

“I woke up thinking about so many things,” the Big Sky star wrote, “flashes of memories of me as a small kid at his age with my mother led into some appreciation for the years I’ve had; still have, turned into the moments my son and I had with his and how they were halted,” he said, comparing his upbringing to that of his son. “I woke up thinking about so many things,” the Big Sky star wrote, “flashes of memories of me as a small kid

Dorsey said in a blog post that he wrote about his travels across Los Angeles that several locations bring back memories of Rivera. These locations range from the place where she lived when the two of them first met to a restaurant where they once had a meal together.

“However, the memories that came before it, as well as our kid, are things for which I am thankful,” she said. “I am grateful for those things.”

His last words in the message were, “Hug and love your moms and grandparents while you still have the chance.”

If at all possible, forgive and forget. You don’t want to give any thought to the things that you could do in the future that you wished you had done in the past.
