In December of 2021, Krista Allen became a member of the cast of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and ever since then, she has played a significant role in the program. Allen assumed the character of Taylor Hayes, which had been created by Hunter Tylo in the year 1990. With the exception of a fill-in actress who appeared in one episode in 1990, Tylo was the only main actress to ever perform the role of Taylor. According to Soaps in Depth, a substantial percentage of Taylor’s storylines on “B&B” have centered on the love triangle that features her, Ridge Forrester (played by Thorsten Kaye), and Brooke Logan (played by Katherine Kelly Lang). The propensity of Ridge to switch loyalties between the two ladies has not only been a source of drama on the show, but it has also regularly prompted fans to respond in a manner that is contentious.
In recent episodes of “B&B,” Taylor has been shown making an effort to regain the love and affection of her former spouse Ridge by putting an even deeper rift between him and his new wife, Brooke. However, her attempts are not without opposition from Brooke, who has made it clear that she disapproves of Taylor’s behavior at every point and has done so repeatedly. Ridge is unable to make a clear and decisive choice between the two ladies because he is being influenced by other forces that are preventing him from doing so. His children, Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson), have been interfering more than ever before in an effort to separate him and Brooke and reunite their parents. Steffy is played by Jacqueline MacInnes Wood, while Thomas is played by Matthew Atkinson (via Soaps). Taylor has not been shy to declare her wish to reunite her family since she kissed Ridge in Monte Carlo. She says she wants her family to be happy again.
However, the fan response is quite divided in regard to the competition between Taylor and Brooke. Allen just offered his commentary on this response, in which he made an intriguing analogy.
According to Allen, it is an actor’s responsibility to elicit contrasting points of view.
Recently, Krista Allen shared her thoughts on the parallels that can be seen between the world of soap operas and that of politics on Twitter. According to what she stated, “Actors are paid to dress up and breathe human life into a written character whose job it is to provoke competing viewpoints and historical perspectives that the audience would love or detest depending on highly personal ideas of what is ‘good or wrong.’ Just like politics.” This revelation comes after the ongoing narrative between Taylor Hayes and Brooke Logan, in which they are competing for Ridge Forrester’s affections, has reached a critical point. The idea that Brooke and Ridge are “destined” to be together is one that Taylor does not subscribe to. However, Allen sent the aforementioned tweet as a response to the fan criticism of the real-life actors.
Allen received a response from a supporter who said “B&B” is the publication that is subject to the most contentious response, as seen by the author’s statement, “#BoldandBeautiful I believe receives the most hatred.” It is not the fault of the performers. The writing is what makes us dislike a certain character. Or, if you want, I might say rewriting. They definitely need to seek the assistance of an expert who is familiar with the past in this matter.” Quick to react to the viewer’s question, Allen said, “Sometimes, but both parties will always have a unique perspective on the same occurrence. It’s very embarrassing when you guys attack each other or us, however. On top of that, a lot of people talk about the program even if they don’t watch it, and they go off topic to repeat the thoughts of other people — exactly like in politics.”
It is not known whether or not Ridge will wind up with Taylor in the end. Be prepared for a boisterous response from the fans, however, if she does.
