Adam Sandler is reflecting on his past while keeping a fresh outlook.

The cover article for the October/November 2022 issue of AARP The Magazine is an interview with the 56-year-old actor from the film Hustle. In the interview, the actor states that he has “become much better at life as I’ve grown older.”

Sandler claims, “I’m much more level-headed than I used to be.” “I used to lose my mind. I was known for my short fuse and lightning-fast reflexes. A lot of idiotic things came out of my mouth, and I made a lot of terrible blunders. When I look back on past relationships, I see that I might be an ass. I thought only of myself. I competed with other comedians and several other entertainers.”

“My father would comment, “That man is hilarious,” and I would respond, “Hey, I’m funny, blah, blah,” and he would add something along the lines of, “Why can’t you both be funny?” I wasn’t always able to view things clearly back then because I was hungry “He goes on further.

Sandler, who is married to Jackie, 47, and they have two kids, Sunny, 13, and Sadie, 16, admits that counseling has been an important component of his own personal development.

“I see a therapist every once in a while. He has provided me with a strategy. Sometimes simply pausing for a moment, taking a breath, and counting to one before saying anything dumb is all that’s needed “says Sandler. “When I do that, I realize it wasn’t that essential to say it in the first place, and I don’t spend two hours making everyone around me feel strange for no reason,” she said. “When I do that, I realize it wasn’t that important to say it in the first place.”

In addition, “I’m also better at recognizing and appreciating things. I no longer see other people’s abilities as something I need to compete with; this applies to every industry, every sport, and every aspect of the entertainment business. They simply make me laugh now, especially a lot of the new cast on Saturday Night Live and a lot of the younger comedians in general. When I’m watching someone, I’ll think to myself, “Man, they’re very good.” I never in a million years would have come up with that joke or taken that technique. Or, one of my children will put on new music or podcast, and my first reaction will be, “That is so great.”

The actor also divulges the key to his successful partnership with his wife, Jackie, whom he wed in the year 2003.

“Nobody wants to hear about Adam Sandler’s secret to marriage, but I suppose here it is: Jackie and I enjoy spending time with each other,” says Sandler. “Nobody wants to hear about Adam Sandler’s secret to marriage.” “We make an effort to make one other laugh, to listen to one another, to include one another, and to provide support for one another. All we can say is that we put in our best effort. And we never, ever consider living our lives apart from one another. Every time we get together, we discuss our plans for the future.”

His most recent film, Hustle, is now available to view on Netflix.
