The children that Jon Gosselin and his ex-wife Kate share are a total of eight. On the other hand, the custody fight that followed their divorce was drawn out and contentious. Although Job was awarded full custody of his two children, he is no longer able to communicate with his other six children.

The public first became familiar with Jon and Kate Gosselin as a result of their participation in the reality program titled “Jon & Kate plus 8.” Before moving to TLC, the program had two seasons on Discovery, which were equally successful.

After being married in 1999, Jon and Kate became parents to a set of identical twins named Mady and Cara as well as sextuplets named Alexis, Collin, Joel, Hannah, Leah, and Aaden.

After the divorce was completed in 2010, Kate was awarded legal custody of the children although both parents continued to share equal responsibility for their upbringing. Despite the fact that he had lost custody of his children, Jon did not give up hope of regaining contact with them or rebuilding their connection with him.

In 2016, the exes began to make news when Jon admitted that he had not seen his children in the preceding three years despite the fact that he was awarded full custody of the children.

This marked the beginning of their contentious struggle for custody of the child. Not long after that, Kate came clean and confessed that her son Collin was receiving behavioral therapy in a residential setting.

In 2018, Jon was awarded exclusive legal and physical custody of his son Collin after a long legal battle. Kate’s plea to move the hearing to the next day was turned down when it was presented to the judge.

In the same year, the guy who is a parent to eight children announced on social media that he had been given custody of one of his sextuplets, Hannah, who also resides with him permanently. Hannah is one of the eight children.

According to the ex-reality star father, he has not been in contact with any of his other six children for quite some time. Jon still really wants to communicate with them, but he recognizes the need of respecting the space they’ve created for themselves by not talking to him. He is just relieved that they continue to communicate with their other siblings.

Hannah discussed the reasons for her decision to live with her father in an interview that took place in 2021. The kid reality star stated that the ability to form meaningful connections with others is diminished when one lives in a home with a large number of other individuals.

As a consequence of this, the young woman, who was 18 years old at the time, said, “I decided to live with my dad, I feel like I simply made the decision for myself. I have always been closer with my dad, and we’ve always had a strong, excellent connection.”

Hannah said that while it was difficult for her, she had to make a choice that was in her best interest since leaving her siblings behind was necessary for her own health. She went on to say that the treatment she received at her mother’s home was “unfair,” and that as a result, living with Jon was the preferable alternative.

When Jon revealed that he got a positive test for COVID-19, he also admitted that none of the six children who lived with Kate had looked up on him during the time that he was sick. When questioned with the reason, Jon said, “there’s simply a disconnect.”

Jon said that the excessive number of legal requirements make it impossible for him to communicate with his children. On the other hand, Hannah’s brother Collin has struggled mightily ever since he moved home with their father.

In a post that has since been removed from Instagram, the young man, who is now 18, referred to his father as a lair, accused him of physically assaulting him, and even contacted the police.

Nevertheless, just a few days after the claimed confrontation, Collin uploaded a photo on Instagram flaunting his new haircut and claiming that his life has never been better. He also said that he had never been happier.

Jon’s kid had accused him of being aggressive, but two weeks later, Jon’s ex-wife broke her silence and accused him of the same thing. Jon’s son had accused him of being violent.

Jon is Prepared to Continue His Life

The custody dispute between Jon and Kate has been resolved now that their children are adults, which was a difficult process. The man who is a father to eight children said that he is relieved that the ordeal is now ended. He said,

“I am free in the sense that my children are all grown up now,” she said. I am in the fortunate position of having my own enterprises, but it is time for me to move on.”

Jon indicated that he was prepared to move on with his life and begin dating. The conclusion of this protracted custody dispute and the subsequent court appearances provided the father of eight with the chance to begin a new chapter in his life. He felt as if a weight had been “lifted off his shoulders.”

Jon is a proud father who often publishes images of his children on various social media platforms, despite the fact that his relationship with his children has its ups and downs. When Hannah and Collin were just starting high school, he showed them some images from their youth.
