There is nothing quite like the Roberts’ grin in Hollywood, and it can light up the little and large screen like no other smile, whether it’s Eric’s, Julia’s, or Emma’s.

But for the oldest Eric Roberts, what really brings a grin to his face is his love for his wife, Eliza, and the pair has an endearing love story that spans over two decades.

On April 18, 1956, Eric was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, to parents who were both church secretaries and real estate agents. Eric’s father worked as a salesperson for vacuum cleaners. In the year 1978, he made his debut in the feature film “King of the Gypsies,” for which he received instant praise and was nominated for the Golden Globe for the first time. Eric would become a household name as a result of the success of the films that followed, such as “Star 80,” “Best of the Best,” “Blood Red,” and “The Pope of Greenwich Village,” and he would cement his star status in Hollywood after receiving an Oscar nomination for his performance in 1985’s “Runaway Train.”

However, a large amount of responsibility comes along with enormous popularity. Eric, much like the Hollywood bad boys of the early 1980s, fell prey to the destructive cycle of substance abuse and eventually died as a result of his addiction. In 1987, Eric was taken into custody after reportedly attacking a law enforcement officer and being caught with both cocaine and marijuana in his hands. His life would be plagued by drug use for a significant portion of those many years to come.

Before beginning his relationship with Kelly Cunningham a few years later, Eric was romantically linked to the actress Sandy Dennis during the first five years of the 1980s. Emma, the child he and Cunningham would later have, would go on to become a Hollywood celebrity in her own right, much like her renowned father and aunt Julia before her.

But it was a random encounter on an aircraft that would turn out to be the deciding factor in Eric’s romantic future.

There is no way to refute the extraordinary level of ability possessed by the Roberts family. Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts, both of whom were performers and writers, gave birth to Eric. Eric was named after his father. They had even been involved in the establishment of the Atlanta Actors and Writers Workshop in Atlanta, Georgia, in the early 1960s, and had subsequently operated a children’s acting school in the city. It should come as no surprise that Eric and his siblings have all caught the acting bug and are now working in the entertainment world.

Back in 1977, Eric made his debut on the daytime television serial opera “Another World.” Despite the fact that he was only employed by the show for a short period of time, he continued in pursuing his goal and did so successfully. Just one year later, Eric was honored with Golden Globe Award nominations for his leading parts in the films “King of the Gypsies” and “Star 80.” Both of these films were released the previous year. After that, he was considered for the coveted Academy Award in the category of Best Supporting Actor for his work in the movie “Runaway Train,” which was released in 1985.

In spite of this, Eric discussed his profession in 1985, and it didn’t seem like things were going very well for him at the time. He said, “Actors prefer to be in agony.” [Citation needed] “There’s a good reason why this industry is known as show business and not show art.”

It seemed as if the majority of his films were not bringing him the kind of success that he had hoped for, despite the fact that he had been nominated for a few prizes. But Eric was aware that situations like that are often unavoidable in the business world, and he just said, “What can you do? You have to continue to play ball regardless of whether or not the audience turns up. In light of the fact that he was had to put on 35 pounds for his part in the movie “Star 80,” he found it quite frustrating that the movie did not get the attention it deserved.

Nevertheless, the singer received more than sufficient attention when, in 1981, he was involved in a vehicle accident and required medical treatment for a period of one month. At the time of the incident, Eric was behind the wheel of a doorless Jeep, and his then-girlfriend Sandy Dennis’ dog had gotten too close to the open window. Eric let off of the steering wheel in an attempt to catch the dog, but as a result, he was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and ended up spending three days in a coma.

Thankfully, the actor made a complete recovery and has resumed his profession despite the setback. Eric maintained his employment in the film industry far into the following decade and even had a cameo in the television film adaptation of “Doctor Who” in the year 1996. It didn’t take long for Eric to start landing jobs on television shows like “Less than Perfect,” “CSI: Miami,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and he soon found himself working more often in this medium.

Eric also became a voice actor for a number of cartoons, some of which are “Danny Phantom,” “Justice League,” and “Justice League Unlimited.” He employed his sweet and lively voice in these roles. And as if that wasn’t enough to establish that Eric had quite a unique library, throughout the years he also appeared in a number of music videos, portraying a variety of roles in each one. And if that wasn’t enough to prove that Eric had quite a distinctive catalog, then nothing is.

In 2003, Eric had an appearance in the music video for “Mr. Brightside,” which was performed by the Killers. Because Eric was so well-liked, the persona he played in the music video was used again in the song “Miss Atomic Bomb,” which was released in 2012. In addition, the actor was featured in the music video for “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, which was released in 2004, and in the music video for “B**** Better Have My Money” by Rihanna, which was released in 2015.

According to Vanity Fair, Eric was at first considered for the role of the husband in Rihanna’s music video; however, the singer ultimately decided to put someone else in the role since the husband character ultimately dies in the clip. Rihanna claims that Eric was “too fine” to treat in such a manner, which is why he was put in the role of a bumbling police officer instead.

Eric came to the conclusion that appearing in music videos was an excellent approach to communicate with a larger audience. He remarked, “So I was like a fortunate charm for a time,” adding that many of the real songs included in the video fared well on the charts. “So I was like a lucky charm for a while.” He continued by saying, “I acquired a whole new audience.”

Since Eric has maintained a successful job for such a long period of time, it is obvious that he is a highly busy guy. At this point in time, Eric is in the middle of his sixties and is still going strong. And despite the fact that he may not be appearing in the big motion pictures blockbusters like he used to, he has found a fantastic home for himself in the world of B movies. B movies are films that are regarded as being inferior to major motion pictures and often have a lower budget. On the other hand, Eric was able to star in a greater number of movies as a result of performing this kind of film, so his admirers could observe more of his work.

Eric discussed the recent change in his professional trajectory during his conversation with Vanity Fair. He said:

“I start creating a series of B movies – bam bam bam bam bam bam bam – one after the other, and then all of a sudden, two or three years have gone, and I produced like 30 pictures in two or three years. Now, over the course of the previous two years, I’ve produced around 70 movies.

Eric acknowledged that this adjustment led to an increase in his overall level of happiness as a professional actor. He said, “I began enjoying myself at the craft,” and I paraphrase: “I’m a whole and complete groupie for it! I am able to carry out this task each and every day. On the other hand, not everyone was as thrilled with Eric’s new work ethic, and others even started making fun of the well-known celebrity because of it. However, before long, people started to see how extensive Eric’s range was, and they were profoundly astonished by the work that he had produced.

“And so suddenly it’s like 250 movies, and I realize, I went from being a joke that’ll do anything to being, ‘Is there anything he can’t do?'” “And so suddenly it’s like’s 250 movies,” Eric stated.

And although though Eric has shown again and again that he is indeed capable of doing it all, his family has an equal amount of skill. Julia, who is Eric’s sister, is an accomplished actress who has created a name for herself in films like “Pretty Lady,” “Eat Pray Love,” and “Notting Hill.” She has shown that she is a formidable woman in the romantic comedy genre as well as other genres.

In addition to that, Emma, who is Eric’s daughter, is a superb actor and has also shown her skill as a singer in the past. On February 10, 1991, Eric and Kelly Cunningham gave birth to their first child together, a girl. But things didn’t work out between Eric and Cunningham in the long run since in 1992, Eric tied the knot with Eliza, who is now his wife.

Emma rose to prominence at a young age, making her debut in a major motion picture at the age of 10 in the drama film “Blow,” which was released in 2001. It seems that Emma acquired the acting bug from her father. The singing and acting roles that Emma played on the Nickelodeon program “Unfabulous” during her adolescent years were largely responsible for the increased success of her career.

After that, the young actress appeared in a number of films, such as “Nancy Drew” and “It’s Kind of a Funny Story,” prior to landing more adult parts. She has played a variety of parts in the anthology horror series “American Horror Story,” which is now undoubtedly the source of the most of her fame. She is reportedly a producer as well, as stated by Pop Culturalist.

While sitting on the sets of movies like “Erin Brockovich” and “America’s Sweethearts,” Emma had a front-row seat to Julia’s on-screen performances. She went on to say that she would ask questions without any kind of filter. This is one of those fields where “you learn as you go.” Emma, on the other hand, had her own professional goals in mind. She was alluding to her aunt when she made the statement, “I never wanted to be her.” “I love her so much, and I adore her work; but, I’m just focusing on doing what I want to do,” she said. In the movie “Valentine’s Day” from 2010, the two ladies appeared on screen together, which was a fortunate coincidence.

Eric has grabbed part of the credit for his family’s success, despite the fact that Emma and Julia have shown without a reasonable doubt that they rule the screen. According to Vanity Fair, he was quoted as saying, “If it weren’t for me, Julia Roberts and Emma Roberts would not be superstars or actors, and I’m quite pleased of that.” He said, “And I am so glad that everyone knows I was first, because I was first by a long shot. I was first by a long shot.” I am proud of the fact that I was the first person to get nominations for both the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.

Eric has shown that he takes great pride in his family, and he also takes great pride in the fact that he is now married to Eliza. The couple has been together for twenty years, and the tale of how they fell in love is truly breathtaking, despite the fact that it began in a manner that was pretty unusual.

Eric and Eliza, who both worked in casting, ran in the same Hollywood circles, so they were familiar with each other before they had ever met. It just so happened that Eric would be sitting next to her on the MGM Grand airplane. They were each clutching screenplays that they intended to read on the aircraft, but in order to avoid “talking shop,” they decided to throw away the scripts and start chatting to each other in real life instead. During the course of the chat, Eliza asked Eric at random who his favorite screenwriter was, to which Eric responded, “David Rayfiel,” who just so happened to be Eliza’s father.

Eliza did, however, have one teeny-tiny suspicion that lingered in her head. Vanity Fair quotes her as saying:

“So then there were all of these peculiar relationships…. However, I received the impression that he was homosexual due to the fact that he was really attractive and was holding a cat by the name of Tender on his lap.

Fortunately for the couple, that did not turn out to be the case, and on August 11, 1992, six years after the proposal, they went down the aisle and have been happily married ever since.

Despite the fact that Eric already had Emma from a former relationship, and Eliza already had two children from a previous marriage, the couple does not have any children of their own that are biologically related to them. Keaton Simons, one of Eliza’s children, is a talented musician who now performs with the band Brett Young Music. Her second kid, a daughter named Morgan, is now the proprietor of a pie business and has no interest in pursuing a career in the creative field.

Since Eric and Eliza have been married for 20 years and have been in love for a much longer period of time, many people have questioned them about the factors that have contributed to the success of their relationship. They claim that things aren’t always sunshine and rainbows for them.

During the first several years of their marriage, Eric was still misusing narcotics, which created a challenging circumstance for Eliza. When asked about his addiction at the time, he said:

“Everyone, from the CEOs to the craft service workers, was using cocaine. My wife finally told me that it was either her or the cocaine when I got to the point where I couldn’t stop doing it. I tried every every psychoactive substance. I was taken into custody on my own (in 1987). I continued using marijuana. My whole life I’ve been a pothead, with various periods of abstinence that I like to refer to as “binge sobriety.”

When Eric was asked straight out in an interview about what had inspired him to kick the habit, without any hesitation, he referred to his wife as the impetus.

“Oh her! … You are aware that it quickly turned into a decision, and it came down to (coke or Eliza)…. “‘this medicine is terrible, what are you doing, it’s either me or the drug.'”

The closer Eric and Eliza drew to one another as a result of their shared success in conquering the challenge. Eric does not make any attempt to conceal the devotion he has for his wife, and he shared the following with Closer Weekly:

“I was just gone for a short vacation of three days, but the whole time I was thinking, ‘God, I hate being away from her!’… It’s getting to the point where I can’t tolerate it because I’ve grown old with her; she’s my roommate, my best friend, my confidante, my manager, and the person I kiss.

While this was going on, Eliza was gushing over her husband, saying things like, “He’s had the bad-boy image from age 19 to 59, and yet the crush-worthiness of him crosses years and genders.”

Since their “love at first script,” Eric and Eliza have developed a wonderful and adventurous life together. They are now the proud grandparents of Emma’s first child, who will be born on December 27, 2020, and will be the product of her relationship with actor Garrett Hedlund.

We want nothing but the best for the newlyweds, and if history is any indication, we have no doubt that they will prevail over any challenges that life throws their way.
