Many of us like singing the national song during sports events. A celebrity’s voice is always entertaining, particularly during big events when celebrities are typically called in.
The Western Conference finals crowd got a treat as country music artist Keith Urban came out onto the ice. His rendition of the “Star-Spangled Banner” has the internet shivering.
For the first time, Keith Urban requests the National Anthem.
A guy with great intellect and compassion.
Keith Urban is a four-time Grammy winner in the realm of country music. He is also a judge on American Idol and a coach on The Voice Australia. Urban is a dual citizen of New Zealand and the USA. He’s been married to Nicole Kidman since 2006. It’s a fantastic start. Fans of the Nashville Predators have been treated to several memorable performances. The national anthem has been beautifully performed on ice by Carrie Underwood and Vince Gill. Urban was confirmed as the singer for the anthem before the Predators’ game against the Anaheim Ducks at Bridgestone Arena. His first time performing the “Star-Spangled Banner” at an occasion, Urban said. The audience erupts when Keith Urban enters the ice and takes the mike. His yellow Predators jersey has his name on the back.
Urban started singing the national anthem as the audience fell silent. His voice fills the room, becoming stronger as he performs. The crowd cheers as he sings the patriotic lines, “Oh, tell does that star-spangled flag still wave?” They also erupt as Urban sings, “O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?” Many artists have covered the Star-Spangled Banner throughout the years, but Urban’s interpretation is one of the most heartfelt. Like when the high school wrestler sung it or the football guy performed it. Keith Urban enjoyed the whole experience. Urban talked with NHL Network’s Jon Morosi after his game. He expressed his gratitude for being picked to perform that night.
After 25 years in America, I was never requested to perform the national anthem. It was an honor to do it for the Preds in Nashville.” “It’s a nerve-wracking experience, but it’s a big honor,” he told Morosi. For all the years I’ve lived here, one of my finest moments.”
“One of my proudest moments.” Before Game 3, @KeithUrban chatted with @JonMorosi. — NHL Network (@NHLNetwork) Even spectators have praised Urban’s performance. “Well done Keith,” wrote one.
