In addition to being both costly and nerve-wracking, traveling over the holidays is also exceptionally crowded. No matter whether you’re trying to check in your luggage, go through security or make a purchase at one of the businesses, the lines are long. Aside from that, if there is a flight delay, being stuck at the airport may be both monotonous and exhausting. Take a flight a day or two earlier to the holiday in order to escape the crowds and avoid these problems altogether.
While stationed at Ford Hood in Texas, Keaton received permission to go to St. Luis, Missouri, for a four-day weekend the Thursday evening before Memorial Day, which he completed.
Despite having a standby ticket in hand, he remained the whole night at the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in hopes of making the 5 a.m. departure. People began to fill the vacant seats on the aircraft as he glanced about, and he was disappointed to see that none of them had been designated for him.
He was no closer to returning home after two days and a slew of standby planes, as this Army mechanic discovered. A guy named Josh Rainey overheard Keaton’s talk with the gate agent and gave him his ticket for the aircraft departing in 10 minutes as he was attempting to come up with a solution. Keaton accepted the ticket. They were advised that, due to the near proximity of the departure time, there was no way to transfer the tickets.
Despite the fact that Keaton expressed gratitude and walked away, Josh thought there had to be something he could do to help the soldier. And it is at this point that he decides to buy Keaton a $341 ticket. That was the most incredible thing anybody had ever done for Keaton, who couldn’t keep his excitement at the prospect of returning home to see his family hidden. Josh, on the other hand, feels that the money was wisely spent.
Once their brief conversation, Keaton and Josh realized they had a common buddy, and it was via this discovery that Keaton’s mother was able to seek down Josh after her son returned home and relayed the incident with her and other family members. The mother thought it was an incredible gesture of generosity and felt compelled to share it with the rest of the world.
Keaton was relieved to hear that people still have a great deal of admiration and respect for those who serve their nation.
Josh, on the other hand, was more than eager to provide a helping hand to a stranger in need. A very exceptional guy with a lovely heart, he is always willing to provide a helping hand when someone needs it. But assisting a soldier was particularly meaningful for him since his father served in the military for 30 years.
