After announcing in January that she was in remission, the Princess of Wales made another public visit in early July to a hospital where she spent time with cancer patients. During her Colchester visit, Kate also explored the award-winning Wellbeing Garden, a tranquil space created for patients and NHS staff. Garden designer Adam Frost, who worked on the project, praised Kate’s hands-on enthusiasm and understanding of nature’s therapeutic benefits.
“When she knelt down and dug her hands into the soil, you could tell she truly got what we’re doing,” he told the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Kate joined volunteers to plant “Catherine’s Rose,” a flower named in her honor. Proceeds from its sale will support the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and hundreds more will be distributed to gardens across the UK.
