**Barron Trump’s Deep Connection with His Grandfather – A Closer Look**

Barron Trump has always shared a strong bond with his family. As the youngest son of Donald Trump, he’s led an extraordinary life, surrounded by immense wealth and privilege. But while material comforts were abundant, his social life was often shaped by a degree of isolation.

Now a student at New York University, Barron may be stepping into a broader and more independent chapter of his life.

Throughout the years, he’s been especially close to his mother, Melania, and maintained a warm, meaningful relationship with his maternal grandparents, Amalija and Viktor Knavs. Though Barron faced the heartbreaking loss of his grandmother in early 2024, his bond with grandfather Viktor remains strong, according to a new report that sheds light on their relationship.

Barron’s upbringing has been anything but ordinary. Raised in Trump Tower, he reportedly had an entire floor to himself. As he grew older, he moved into the White House during his father’s presidency, a change that came with heavy restrictions, including constant Secret Service protection—something that continues to this day.

While Barron never lacked material things, the protected nature of his life has understandably limited his social interactions. A source told *People* that Barron is “an old soul—smart, articulate, and well-read.” They added that his upbringing was heavily shaped by the influence of his European mother and grandparents.

“He’s grounded and self-aware,” the source said. Another insider described Barron as having “more European traits than American,” noting his calm demeanor and polite nature. “He listens before speaking and isn’t aggressive like many of his peers,” they shared.

Barron’s family relationships, especially with his mother and grandparents, have been a constant throughout his life. Melania’s Slovenian roots were a big part of his upbringing. She raised Barron to be bilingual, and as a child, he spoke to his grandparents in Slovenian. He even spoke with a Slovenian accent as a toddler, something both Melania and Donald Trump found endearing.

Videos from his childhood, including one from a 2009 *Entertainment Tonight* segment and a 2010 *Larry King Live* interview, show Barron speaking with that accent. However, by the time his father won the 2024 election, that accent had faded.

So how involved were Amalija and Viktor in raising Barron? The Knavs moved to the U.S. in 2004 and eventually became citizens in 2018 through Melania’s sponsorship. They were deeply embedded in Barron’s life, even living part-time at the White House during Donald Trump’s presidency and frequently staying at Trump properties like Mar-a-Lago and Trump Tower.

Amalija, in particular, was known for cooking traditional Slovenian meals and telling Barron stories from her homeland. Though they kept a low public profile, their presence was central to Barron’s childhood.

A source once told *CBS* that “there’s a unit within the family unit—Melania, her parents, and Barron—all speaking Slovenian, which even the Secret Service couldn’t understand.”

Melania announced Amalija’s death in January 2024, writing, “She was a strong woman full of grace and love, entirely devoted to her family. We will miss her deeply and cherish her memory forever.”

Following this loss, Barron and Viktor have reportedly remained very close. A *Daily Mail* source with long-standing ties to the Trump family described their relationship as “extremely close,” saying the two were often seen walking around Mar-a-Lago together before Barron moved to New York for college.

Viktor, like the rest of the Knavs family, remains private. “He keeps a low profile and mostly stays in Melania’s private quarters along with her sister Ines,” the source said.

As for Barron’s personal life, little is known. He’s never done a formal interview, and his mother has kept his privacy tightly guarded. Donald Trump recently said on the *PBD Podcast* that Barron has never had a girlfriend, though he described his son as “social” and comfortable around others.

Still, rumors persist. He’s been linked to model Klara Jones, who is two years older than him, and more recently to Maria Arana, a 21-year-old NYU student and influencer. However, Arana denied the rumors in a *Vanity Fair* interview, calling the speculation “very random.”

With Barron now at NYU, it remains to be seen how he’ll navigate this new stage of life. But one thing is certain—his tight-knit family, especially his bond with his grandfather, continues to shape who he is today.
