A Brazilian couple has broken the Guinness World Record for the longest marriage of a living pair by reaching the remarkable milestone of 84 years of marital bliss. This makes them the oldest married couple in the world.

According to LongeviQuest, a worldwide database that keeps track of the lives and dates of the world’s oldest individuals, the record has been verified. As of the 5th of February, the business confirmed that Manoel Angelim Dino, who is 105 years old, and his wife Maria de Sousa Dino, who is 101 years old, had been married for 84 years and 77 days.

Around the year 1936, the pair, who were both working in agriculture with their respective families, first met. They were from the rural municipality of Boa Viagem, which is located in the state of Ceará, which is located in the northeastern region. When Manoel first came into contact with Maria, he was in the Almeida area of Boa Viagem. He had gone there to collect a consignment of rapaduras, which is a confection that is traditionally associated with Brazil.

Even though that first encounter did not result in anything, the two individuals were reunited many years later, and this marked the beginning of their love story that would last for decades. Manoel was 21 years old and Maria was 17 years old when they tied the knot in November of 1940.

According to LongeviQuest, Manoel experienced love at first sight; nevertheless, Maria’s mother was initially opposed to the beginning of the relationship between the two of them. Unfazed, a smitten individual Over the course of his efforts to win over his future-in-laws, Manoel became so patient that he even started constructing a house for the family that he intended to create with Maria.

After being married, Manoel and Maria both found employment in the agricultural industry, namely in the cultivation of rolled tobacco. They eventually became parents to thirteen children, nine of whom are still alive, and later on, they welcomed fifty-five grandkids, sixty great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.

At this point in time, the couple is content to have a peaceful life together at home. Despite the fact that Manoel spends a significant portion of his time sleeping as a result of his advanced age, LongeviQuest reports that he rises each evening to participate in a unique nightly ritual with his wife.

The two individuals sit next to one another and listen to the rosary prayer on the radio. After that, they watch a mass which is broadcast on television.

Maria, who just celebrated her birthday with a cake decorated with butterflies, gave a straightforward response when asked what they feel the key is to their long and happy marriage. She said that love is the secret.

According to Guinness World Records, the previous record for the longest-lasting marriage was held by an American couple named Herbert Fisher and Zelmyra Fisher, who were both born in 1905. Zelmyra Fisher was born in 1907. A total of 86 years and 290 days passed between the two of them when Herbert passed away in February of 2011. Barack Obama, who had previously served as President, presented the couple with a signed commendation in the year 2010.

The marriage of David Jacob Hiller, who was born in 1789, and Sarah Davy Hiller, who was born in 1792, was the longest marriage that has ever been documented. The couple from the United States had been married for 88 years and 349 days until Sarah passed away in 1898 at the age of 106.
