A woman of two who was trying to confront shoplifters at her place of employment has tragically passed away.
WSAZ 3 and Cleveland 19 News reported that Ilson Miriam Kim was tragically ran over on Friday, December 6, at around six o’clock local time. She was attempting to stop two individuals who had stolen many things from her beauty supply shop, Beauty Max, which is located in Jacksonville, Florida.
According to Sergeant Steve Rudlaff of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, who spoke with News 4 JAX, “Two individuals entered the business, and one of the individuals grabbed several items and ran out of the store with those items.”
As Rudlaff said to the outlet, one of the shoplifters walked away from the store, while the other climbed into a vehicle that had a driver waiting for them.
On Sunday, December 15, PEOPLE sent a request for comment, but the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office did not immediately react to the request of statement.
Kim, who was 64 years old at the time, was taken to the hospital after being struck by the car; however, she was subsequently declared passed.
According to statements made by her family to WJXT, “Everything she accomplished in her life was through sheer dedication and determination.”
“Despite the fact that she was sometimes reluctant, she did not want fear to take control of her. They went on to say that she was in her sixties when she first learned how to swim and had begun going to Zumba classes in order to improve her health.

A company owner who opted to remain anonymous informed News 4 JAX that stealing has been a “major issue” for the area where Kim’s store was situated. This information was provided by the business owner.
Heather Colby, a customer, was quoted as saying to the source, “I believe that a lot of businesses need to take accountability for their employees and make sure that they are trained to know not to run after a shoplifter, especially in a busy area like this.”
During the time that they were communicating their “thoughts and prayers” to Kim’s loved ones, another person referred to Kim’s acts as being “very courageous.”
The fact that Kim is leaving behind two girls and a husband was disclosed via a GoFundMe campaign that was established to generate money for the costs associated with her burial.
According to the statements made on the GoFundMe page, Ilson was a proud mother, wife, entrepreneur, and shop owner.
“She taught her daughters the power of hard work, persistence, empathy, and love; she exemplified these qualities with the grace and love she showed to others in her community on a daily basis,” the article adds. “She was a role model for her daughters.”
Kim moved to the United States from Uijeongbu, South Korea, in 1986 “in search of better opportunities,” according to an online obituary. She launched her beauty salon in Jacksonville only three years ago shortly before she passed away.
There have been no arrests made in connection with Kim’s loss. This study is still being carried out.
