Over her career, Canadian singer and songwriter Shania Twain has been responsible for the sale of more than 100 million albums worldwide. This places her among the most successful musicians in the annals of music history and establishes her as the all-time best-selling female country music singer. She is well known for her songs “Man, I Feel Like a Woman” and “Any Guy of Mine,” which have helped her become renowned as the “Queen of Country Pop.” The latter song was responsible for the singer’s Grammy Award victory.

When her then-husband, Robert Lange, cheated on her in 2008 with her secretary, Marie-Anne Thiébaud, who was also her closest friend at the time, everyone was astonished. Robert Lange was married to her at the time. Twain and Frédéric Thiébaud subsequently got married in Puerto Rico in 2011, which was a surprising change of events considering that Marie-Anne was already married to Frédéric Thiébaud.

As soon as the infidelity scandal broke, Twain ended her relationship with Lange. He then proceeded to make some outlandish claims regarding the separation, such as saying, “It’s simply just a growing apart, that’s all.” Eja, the sole child of the marriage, was born in August 2001, which implies that he was probably somewhere between the ages of nine and eleven when his parents finalized their divorce in 2010. The affair ultimately resulted in the dissolution of the Thiébauds’ marriage.

Frédéric and Twain had been married for more than ten years at this point. 2009 marked the beginning of the couple’s committed relationship, which culminated in their nuptials on December 31, 2011, in Rincon, Puerto Rico.

Years after the divorce, Twain recalled to Dax Shepard on his podcast titled “Armchair Expert” the heartbreak that she felt after discovering the infidelity of her husband and how her now-husband Frédéric handled the situation on his side of the conflict. Dax Shepard is the host of “Armchair Expert.”

In the episode of “Armchair Expert” that took place on February 27, 2023, Twain gave Shepard open and honest replies to his questions. After giving it some thought, she has come to the conclusion that the things that occurred to her after the divorce shouldn’t have been “that difficult” for her to deal with.

“I should not have been so ignorant about the highs and lows that come with life. She told Shepard, “Maybe I’m too much of an optimist, like, ‘That’s all behind me.'”

Twain said that she and Frédéric did not have any romantic ties with one other while they were still together with their exes, which is the reason why so many people were surprised when they got back together following their separate divorces with their spouses. She also said that the only time she had spent time with Frédéric was at dinners and other social gatherings due of his very busy schedule working for a large corporation.

In point of fact, Twain disclosed the information that Lange and Frédéric were the ones who engaged in greater conversation throughout that time period. Nonetheless, she felt it was a “wonderful surprise” to see how her now-husband coped with the divorce in a “smarter,” “graceful,” and “gracious” manner than she had.

“Even though it wasn’t okay with him, he handled the situation with more maturity. I had never felt anything like that in my whole life since I always believed that I was stable, but because of it, I was unable to manage how vulnerable I was. Twain expressed her feelings towards Frédéric and the dissolution of her first marriage in the following way: “I genuinely believe that I’m safe, so it really hurt me, I guess more than any other instability I’ve ever felt.”

Twain also disclosed in another part of the interview that she has not talked to Lange about anything other than their son Eja, who is now 21 years old and whom they both co-parent.

“For individuals who don’t communicate to each other, Mutt and I seem to be doing a good job of parenting together,” she conceded. “We’ll simply text. Since we both love our kid so much, we choose not to engage in any games of that kind. We both place the same importance on him, thus we both make room for him. There’s no nonsense about it.”
