After going out to look for the animal at around five o’clock in the evening on Monday, December 2, Elizabeth Pollard, who was 64 years old, vanished in Unity Township, Pennsylvania. According to ABC News, Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Steve Limani said at a news conference that a relative reported her missing on Tuesday, December 3, shortly before one o’clock in the morning.

Limani said that the little girl had reported to police that she “nodded off in the car and woke up” and that “Grandma never came back.” The tiny daughter was supposed to have been present and secure.
“At that point in time, we realized that this could be a very bad situation,” Limani said to reporters during a second news conference that took place on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by ABC News.
Since then, rescue crews and excavators have started working to remove earth, which will enable them to approach the sinkhole. They have even lowered cameras to aid in the search for Pollard, which is being conducted with the assistance of the state’s Bureau of Mine Safety.
According to the Times, he continued by saying, “It seems that it was most likely created during the time while, unfortunately, Ms. Pollard was walking around.” “We are hoping that everyone will keep their family in their prayers, and that this will turn out to be a rescue mission. This is how we are going to continue to conduct ourselves,”
Limani reportedly said that a shoe that may have belonged to Pollard was discovered “about 30 feet (9 meters) below the surface.” This information was reported by the Associated Press.
Limani said, “It almost feels like it opened up with her standing on top of it,” referring to the situation.
We have a good deal of faith that we are at the appropriate location. TribLive was informed by the Chief of the Volunteer Fire Department in Pleasant Valley, John Bacha, that “we are hoping there is still a void she could be in.”
After Bacha’s comments, Limani reiterated it and added, “We don’t feel a reason that we should be looking elsewhere.”
Scot Graham, the Chief of the Marguerite Fire Department, referred to the sinkhole as a “big void” that “was all different depths” at the news conference that took place early on Tuesday morning.
The head of the fire department said that the procedure is lengthy and laborious.
In spite of the fact that the temperature drops throughout the night, Bacha reassured the community that rescue attempts would continue. He also said that the temperature is higher below the surface, which may provide Pollard’s loved ones with some inspiration.
It is thought that the hole appeared over a coal mine that had been in operation for the H.C. Frick Coke Company until the year 1952.
As soon as the sinkhole location is secured, the agency of Environmental Protection of Pennsylvania will conduct an investigation into the site “to determine if this issue is the result of historic mine subsidence,” according to ABC News. This statement was made by a representative for the agency.
Pepper has not been located as of yet.
